We stopped here on our way south, it is about 15 minutes from the motorway and very well signposted. Here you are indeed up for a charming experience, the 12th century stone buildings are incredible and the owner has even prepared a leaflet with the history of this property! There is ample secured parking (a must for us of course), the room was spacious basic but very charming. Breakfast was great, there is all you need and most of what is available is homemade! Cannot ask for more.

Lovely old mill in the French countryside

My husband had stayed here with his father earlier in the year and only had good things to stay. We decided to add it to our European trip and i wasn't disappointed! Lovely setting. Very warm and friendly host. Room was a good size and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious.

very charming!

We chose this venue for its location on our journey south and its access to the motorway( it has plenty of off the road parking). Rural France sums it up, peace and quiet with the cows munching away happily across the road. Here in Cornwall we would call it a "Barn Conversion". This has been done to a high standard. The large bedroom complete with oak beams and very comfortable bed and especially pillows, was indeed welcome. The lady host who speaks reasonable English (better than my French) was anxious that we should be comfortable and happy. Indeed like correspondent Mandy, we got the impression she very much wanted us to go to the aforementioned restaurant where we experienced much the same kind of service. One very helpful girl, one who could'nt care less. It could be of course that it is the ONLY restaurant in Viriat! Anyway it did'nt detract from our stay and was made up for by the home made fare on offer at breakfast, which we shared with two other French couples. Would'nt hesitate to stay again.

Rustic Charm

This is a 15 minute detour off the motorway but you feel as if you're in the heart of  rural France - very quiet old stone mill dating from the 12th century. We had a large family room which was very nice. The reason I've dropped the owner a star is that she put a lot of pressure on us to eat at a certain restaurant - clearly owned by her friends or relatives - the food was overpriced, service haughty, quality mediocre and a restricted menu wasn't ideal for kids. This put a dampener on an otherwise pleasant place to stay for a stopover to the Alps.
Breakfast is at a communal table in a lovely farmhouse with oak beams - simple but fine - hot choc for the kids, nice coffee, fresh bread and jam and home-made yogurt.
