We stayed here one night which, was sufficient.
Our standard double room was cramped, too small really for two people. 
We were disturbed by late night noise from the restaurant across the road and also by drunks returning home, shouting in the street (and this was midweek). We could have closed the window however, needed the ventilation as the room would have been airless otherwise (no aircon). I did not sleep well.
On the plus side, the hotel is centrally located in the old part if town, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff friendly.
Free parking can be found on Rue Rallon and off Rue Pasteur.
From our personal experience, I do not think this hotel represents good value for money. 


Underwhelming experience

Situated on a main - but quiet - street within easy reach of a marvellous chateau, lots of good restaurants and the station,  what isn't there to like? We had a comfortable room with bath on the first floor overlooking the boulangerie.  The landlord was very obliging, especially as my husband had got the booking dates wrong, but humourously and efficiently found us a room so we stayed two nights and took advantage of the extra day to explore this much under rated little town.  The bar is well patronised - a good advert for the host!  Breakfast was served here; not outstanding but far better than the coffee, stale bread and plastic jam that you can get in France. There is limited on street parking, but you can also use the three reserved spaces at the station.  Thoroughly recommend the hotel and the town.

Budget priced town centre hotel

I stayed here earlier in the week. The location is minutes on foot from the Gare, and it is centrally located to shops, restaurants and cafes. The room was very comfortable, lovely view from the balcony of rue de la Poterie, and it was really quiet for sleeping. The bathroom had a bath and shower, and the water pressure was amazing. Christophe and Aurelia are very friendly and helpful. Oh, and it's good value for money. Go there...

Just Outstanding...

In the room ugly bad decoration ,cold atmosphere a little like a summer camp, noissy and frosen room, right under the stairs and the bed is not that great..expensive breakfast for what it is.... Very king people good location

Maybe better for summer

We found both Vitre and this hotel by accident when on a cycling trip in northern France.

Vitre has a beautiful town centre built up around the large châteaux slap bang in the middle.  

This hotel is perfectly place in the centre of Vitre a couple of minutes walk from the chateaux and the many restaurants.

Aside from the location, the main reason for recommending this hotel is the excellant level of customer service.

The host at the hotel went out of his way to make us welcome and sharing his restaurant recommendations.

The host spoke perfect english, but played along as we tried out our pigeon french.

We paid about 90 euros for a room for 3 adults, which had 3 separate beds which we felt was good value.

We also considered the hotel magic close by, but it was more expensive and we felt did not have the charm of this establishment.

Welcoming Hotel in Great Location, Great Customer Service, Excellant Value for Money

We stopped here on our first night of a cycle trip from St Malo to Marseille. They had a garage available to store the bikes securely and the room was clean and comfortable. A good breakfast the next morning set us up for the day ahead. The location is right in the old part of town with lots of shops and restaurants around but as we were staying on a Sunday then very few were open.

Great location with friendly staff

A good, reasonably-priced town centre hotel. No parking, but the station car park was 100m away, and very reasonable. The hotel is old and sprawls a little - in the nicest possible way. The rooms all had en suite bathrooms, and while not big, were adequate. The staff were very helpful, and usefully bilingual. The hotel bar was open in the evening, and breakfast was taken there.

A very good base in the town centre

Stayed one night. Two single rooms. Beautiful budget hotel right in the medieval center of Vitre, but easy walk to the train. Very modern and stylish decor on the inside. A great bargain at 55€. Single rooms are quite small but ingeniously laid out with a small ensuite bath. Modern decor. The wifi is tricky to connect, but very good once online (use the helpful booklet in each room). My only complaint and reason for 4 stars is the noise. This is an old historic hotel - the walls are thin and halls and stairs are creaky. This could be a problem for some guests. We loved being in the historic center. Great restaurants everywhere so we didn't eat at the hotel. Vitre is a very walkable city and a joy to explore. Don't miss the castle! All close to the Minotel (sounds like a chain hotel, but it's not). Superb value.

Good value - historic center

Located in the heart of old town. The nearby parking was great as well. The owner was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for our visit not only in town but the surrounding area as well. The room was quiet, The wifi OK. Breakfast was also very good. We would definitely stay there again.
