We received a very warm welcome from the owner. The place is a self contained annex separate to the rustic Auberge - but same owner. The lodge has 6 rooms. We had Room One on the ground floor as has a small terrace. The annexe is very architectural in design. The room though small was beautifully designed. The location is good -we had a tough 5 hour circular walk from the doorstep

High spec room in an unusual modern annexe

This little hotel is situated in the mountains at the start of 4 hiking trails. A little river is running behind the hotel.
There is one main building serving as the reception, restaurant, breakfast area,...
The rooms themselves are located in another building next to it, so you need to go outside to go to the restaurant, which is of course not a problem in the summer when it is sunny.
We were in the top room, which is rather small, but very cosy. It has a little living space inside, a small terrace, a shower and a toilet in a separate room.
The bed was situated 2 meters higher. Some sort of mezzanine, with the size of the mattress. You need to access it via a small ladder, so this could be a problem for people with some physical restrictions.
Also there is no elevator, so we needed to carry our bags several floors up via the stairs.
The room was clean enough, but not entirely. Mirrors were still dirty, and there were some places with dust and dead insects.
There is a very nice common place as well, where you can sit, read, lay outside, use the kitchen,.... This place was really nicely decorated.
We had dinner in the restaurant of the hotel twice. They serve local food, it was tasty and worth its price. Only if you don't want cheese or meat, the choice on the menu becomes very limited.
Personally we had some issues with the breakfast. For 2 persons you receive, 2 pieces of bread, 6 little croissants, and only 2 types of jams. We asked if we could have some chocolate spread, but that was not possible.
We also asked (a day in advance) if it was possible to have some eggs during breakfast, also that was not possible.
So no cereals, no yogurt, no fresh fruit, no granola, no eggs, no meat, no cheese,.... That is way too limited for its price.
The personnel was very kind and friendly, so no problems there.
I would certainly recommend this hotel if you like a good hike, or the quietness of the mountains.

Cosy, quiet place

The area is just idillic every Angol is a contact with Nature Even from your bedroom  seems to be in contact with Nature I love they accomodation they are small but there is so much charme all around I think people shoul pay just for the amazing view and for all the  air that they enjoy You can easy reach the valley of chadefour where You can enjoy the most beautiful panoramas the 500 Diables restaurant Also offer you beautiful homemade dishes serverd with elegance and charm all the staff does a great job and makes You feel at home thank you We will be back and bring family and friend with us

No words could explain

The place is lovely and quiet in the middle of nowhere. The accommodations are fairly new and with a modern style. Unfortunately the room are quite small and not well organized even if the materials used look great. Our room was located on the basement. Even if we had a lovely terrasse, the metallic stairs were quite noisy. We could hear the other guests going to their rooms which was annoying.
Breakfast is continental. Still do not know why it is called eco-lodge.
Very good for the location, but a little overpriced .

Great place but overpriced 

Pros: Quite countryside location. Picturesque route to hotel through Massif du Sancy with friendly cows coming to you from hills if you make a stop. Free WiFi (not so stable though) & parking. Restaurant. Communicative staff.

Cons: Really difficult to find! But the guy from hotel restaurant helped us find the way. 
Check out at 10AM (on booking.com it's 10-11AM)! Room is rather small, difficult to unpack luggage. No privacy in shower; its just in room with no door. Room isolation: doors are clacking, metal stairs make noise. Typical french breakfast was rather carbohydrate for me especially after evening meal with saucisson, jambon and egg..

Hotel restaurant works till last guest (seems it's quite popular among locals) and provides quite good local food (which is quite heavy for me) and wine.
