This hotel near the airport (just a 5 minutes drive) is set on a quiet three mile long sandy beach - (while walking it we twice saw baby turtles heading being rescued by volunteers). All the hotel's rooms face the sea and have good aircon, hot water showers, kettle, fridge and TV with European channels. The hotel could use a new paint job but most stuff works and the staff are friendly and helpful when things don't.

The breakfast are good - fruit juice, a basket of pastries and bread, jams and butter and fresh tea or coffee; eggs and more on request and extra. Dinner in the restaurant - roofed but open sided, right on the beach - is not cheap but is excellent; we can recommend the ‘sergeant fish’. Service is, unfortunately, African-speed but you have the beach and the waves to watch while you wait.

If you need to arrive or leave the hotel late at night or very early in the morning make sure they know so that they can unlock the front doors for you.

There is a useful bakery and coffee shop 5 minutes walk away, La Citronelle, opposite which is a good grocery store.

Friendly, close to the airport and on the beach

DO NOT STAY HERE!! The morning I was to leave, while eating breakfast, I watched an employee (housekeeper) go into my room. A couple of hours later as I was traveling down the coast I discovered she had stolen $600 usd from my day pack. We called the manager immediately. His initial response was to blame me for not using the room safe (THERE IS NOT A SAFE IN ROOM #4).  When I returned to Libreville a week later I went straight to the hotel and suggested we call the police. Again he blamed me for not using the imaginary safe and said he would report it to the police. That proved to be a dead end in spite of promises made. I could have stopped payment on my credit card, but opted to honor my bill. Lesson learned. I could also go on about the dinginess of the hotel as a whole, the sliding glass door to the room that has a one inch gap to the outdoors, the cigarette butts in the water buckets for washing the beach sand off your feet, the shower head that shoots water up rather than down, and used ear swabs/buds in my garbage can. But, to put it more simply ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK! You have been warned…

Nice location, very close to the airport (Walking distance).
Hotel is globally nice, but would need to be freshen up, getting old. Rooms are nice, the one I has was on the main floor, with direct access to the beach, which is nice.
Room was clean, and big enough. Bathroom is not huge, but enough for me, except that the toilet is almost in the shower...
Good Wifi in the room, but not amazing on the terrasse of the restaurant.
Terrasse of the restaurant is amazing, right on the beach. Food is very good. However, the service is way too slow!!! Not all the staff is motivated, which is quite annoying, when you feel that you bother them. Prices are way too expensive. I understand now why it was empty...
Some improvements could be done, especially with the construction of a small pool, especially considering that a bath in the sea is not to be considered. In this regard, the hotel could make an effort to try to clean the beach in front of the hotel.

Very nice, but way too expensive!

I stayed here for one night en route to Loango Lodge in the national park. This is a modern boutique hotel on the beach and no more than five minutes from the airport. The rooms are simply decorated but comfortable and most have sea views. I had an early start and there was a private party in the restaurant and on the beach which was scheduled to go on past midnight . The reception staff moved  me to a quieter room without complaint. 

Excellent location

We had a very brief overnight as this hotel is very close to the airport. Arrival through the road side gate and reception is unprepossessing but once through to the beach side terrace it all changes. We had a very comfortable room with patio door onto the sandy beach, but by far the best thing was the wonderful food, beautiful fresh fish cooked well and very tasty. An expensive country and therefore hotel and meal but I wish we could have stayed longer!

Fantastic fish beach side

Spent a night during a business trip to Gabon and I loved this nice structure by the sea. Exceedingly large and comfortable room. Lovely terrace above a sandy beach.
Excellent restaurant of international standing.
Recommended!


Amazing

The Residence du Phare is a very agreeable small hotel on the beach convenient to the airport and in a very secure neighborhood.  The accommodations are very comfortable, the bar is pleasant and the terrace by the beach is very nice rain or shine.  They had a nice duo singing and playing music -- pleasant but not too loud.  The staff was friendly and helpful.  The room was very comfortable and spacious.

Quiet Stay at the beach

Libreville is pricey and this accommodation doesn't come cheap.  It is a charming little guest house with rooms overlooking the beach.  Good food; comfortable and clean spacious ensuite rooms.  It is just right by the international airport in one of Libreville's most exclusive neighborhoods.  It doesn't have lots of facilities - a gym being one of the things it lacks - but if you simply want a quaint, comfy place with good food and a view of the ocean, you can't go wrong with Hotel du Phare
