A small family guest house. A little more basic and rustic than some of the other places we stayed in whislt travelling in the area. Attentive and riendly staff and good food. Failry quiet place to stay. Good wine with dinner.

Small family guest house, a little basic but excellent food.

family run with good service, home cooked food. Room was fine, clean and comfortable but no hairdryer or kettle. However we asked for hot water and were given two mugs full.
Food was replenished regularly, both fior breakfast and dinner.

Basic hotel

Lovely friendly people and amazing views from third floor You have huge space with fantastic views from third floor rooms we were in looking down on the town with tables and chairs and stargazing at night 
It doesn’t pretend to be top business class so don’t expect that but a friendly hotel clean and all essentials for me plus views!

Argos Palace Hotel Kutaisi

We stayed here twice as part of a group tour and unfortunately, high winds seriously exposed the hotel’s shortcomings on the first occasion – the windows rattled like nobody’s business. Very average food indeed, especially at breakfast - and a woeful veggie selection - but we did enjoy the house wine and local spirit chacha. The location seems distant from the centre but is actually accessible by a stepped route but in all, this is a pretty low budget option. It also perpetuates that annoying tendency of hotels in some countries for the shower to be insufficiently cordoned off from the rest of the bathroom – so everything gets soaked.

Below average but decent chacha

I stayed one night at this hotel.  Kutaisi is a nice place and the hotel is within walking distance of the lovely cathedral.  I didn't like the hotel much though and wouldn't stay again.  There are several floors but no elevators so it is not suitable for guests who cannot climb stairs, as there are stairs everywhere including to the dining room.  A porter will help with your luggage but for a fee.  The room was clean, but very hot and stuffy.  There was air conditioning which worked, but it took a long time to cool the room down and once switched off the room went back to unpleasantly stifling very quickly.  

The wifi was hopeless and didn't even work downstairs in the reception or dining room.  I had dinner and breakfast, the food was poor and the dining room a horrible place to eat.  It's a small, bare room into which three large coach parties were crammed.  The noise was terrible.  

Overall I didn't enjoy my stay here and don't think it was good value for money.  I'll try somewhere else if I come back.

Disappointing

I stayed 2 nights at the Argo. My room opened onto the very large terrace that surrounds the upper story. It was small and contained nothing but the bed and side tables. There was nowhere to sit except the bed which didn't matter too much as the common terrace had seating and great views. There was no closet and no TV although there was a cable obviously from a TV system. The lack of TV is a comment not a complaint. The view from the terrace over the town is very good and much better than sitting inside watching TV. The bathroom was a reasonable size and tiled but had no hooks for hanging anything and no countertop space or shelf. The double bed was comfortable with good cotton bedding and the A/C worked well. 

The wifi was a little slow but reasonably stable with a good signal. 

The dining room was completed inside with big, shiny floor tiles, huge wall mirrors and multiple chandeliers. It looked like something from another hotel being so different from the sleeping rooms. It also had 2 balconies with no rails - just slabs protruding over the hill with nothing to stop the unwary plunging off the edge. I expect that is the last element of the construction and rails will be installed in due course. The food was pretty standard but plentiful and with a good selection.

Homely

I wasn't at all impressed with this guest house. I thought that it could have been much better. Our room did have a shared balcony but was otherwise quite spartan. The bread  that we were served at dinner and breakfast was very stale, the worst we have been served in Georgia. Palace is definitely not the correct term for this guest house. The shower was impossible to use being stuck in the middle of a tiny bathroom. Unimpressive! Avoid! Travel companies should stop using this place it doesn't do Georgia any favours. Many of the staff were very grim. It was very noisy until well after midnight due to people drinking on the patio. People were bringing drink in even though there was a notice to say this should not be done.

Could be better

Some of the people in the group were not as lucky, but our room number 5 was very nice.
The room was big with a small sofa aircon and TV. No fridge or wardrobe but we were only here for a night so had no intention of unpacking.
Bathroom was a small wet room. 
There is a lovely terrace which looks down the hill over the town.
Dinner and breakfast were ok and are served communal style downstairs. You can get wine and beer with dinner, I didn't see any sign of a full bar.

Nice terrace

Stopped here on a group tour for one night. Rooms were clean and the beds were pretty comfortable. The terrace was nice! Food was pretty good. The bathroom doesn’t have a separated shower so it all gets wet and slippery.
