Unfortunately, there's only breastfeeding and self-service left, good food, like a legendary pork steak, is a thing of the past, half a beer is a drink from a mass grave.

Cold cooking

Aldersbach - for those who have never been here, a visit is highly recommended. In 2016 the national exhibition Beer in Bavaria was held here; for 750 years beer has been brewed in Aldersbach! The monastery, the brewery and above all the famous Asam Church (attention is just being renovated (July 2018) are highly recommended. Guided tours are offered. Beer drinkers are wary: a visit to the Klosterstover - the beer from the wood jar is a revelation - is a MUST!!

A must visit

We didn't stay here, but we ate lunch. Still, you have to evaluate this place to warn other people. I have rarely eaten as badly as there. The cheese buns I ordered were three undefinable gray lumps. The cheese that was spilled over it was probably coated plastic. Although my companion's zander filet made a better impression optically, it was also a disaster in taste. So don't let the appealing environment fool you!

Incredibly bad food.

The rooms are really very spartan. There is only a bed, a cupboard and a small table with a chair. On a television or even a WiFi, the guest hopes in vain. In our case, not even the light worked. Besides, there was a ball in the monastery locker room that evening. Until 3:00 p.m. there was no sleep to think about. In terms of our complaint, the answer came, we could have asked if there was an event going on.

Historic area, very bad hotel

In short: I come neither to sleep nor to eat. Unfriendly staff and absolutely overpriced prices (perhaps on the anniversary of 500 years of entry ban)! There are better places to eat, since everything is geared towards mass tourism and that the guest finally gets to feel too.

If you must.

We - two couples - arrived on 29 October at about 11:30 to check in. Reception is integrated into the checkout counter. After naming our names, we were given a registration form with the words the filling out in the hand indicating one of the free restaurants. We did so on demand when the rooms will be free or if there is any possibility of free baggage. We were told that they would be free from 14:00 onwards. Okay, it was in line with the offer. Overall disappointing and absolutely unfriendly reception from clearly overwhelmed, not well-trained or poorly trained staff. So we will not be able to unlock the key to the free restaurant room until 14:00 on demand.

Room on the second floor, defective heating, defective elevator

.... stay somewhere else. 
To be fair, we were unlucky when we stayed there for a friends wedding: the night we arrived (after a 1200
Km drive) there was a massive rave party in the Bräustüberl courtyard which happened to be just outside our room. It went on until 3am followed by more noise from furniture moving which stopped us from sleeping until 4:30 am. What a nightmare.
The rooms are spartan but a good size. Breakfast was excellent. The whole place was empty though which made us feel like we were in some scary movie when walking through the massive corridors and the maze of rooms. The building is impressive and so is the adjoining church.
