Awful experience at the hotel which had initially been presented in a very different aspect from the pictures on Booking.com Very deceiving, during the booking process I had initially selected a DOUBLE ROOM with a LARGE DOUBLE BED which was given as an option. Upon arrival we were greeted by a RING doorbell and a non working reception, with a very unpleasant checking in process. After ringing the door bell multiple times I received a call from the receptionist/hotel manager to give me instructions on how to check into the room. Shortly after realising what we had signed up for and observing the room which looked nothing like the pictures shown. The room was practically a workers paradise as the entire hotel was filled with local workers who only require single beds for a night’s rest. The unprofessional hotel manager/ receptionist who did not speak English was very unhelpful as I had travelled with a pregnant woman and a 1 year old infant who absolutely required a double bed for the night. We were given no other choice but 2 single beds joined together with single bed sheets. Upon starting a massive debate over this we were not given any other choice and being unable to cancel the booking as we were going to be charged the entire stay regardless. No attempt to resolve the issue and have any sympathy or understanding towards us made me very uncomfortable and frankly I was fuming the ignorance from this female individual presenting herself as a hotel manager without any customer service approach was something I do not wish upon anyone. After requesting to be provided with a double bed for the night this was denied as apparently the entire hotel was full to the brim. The other thing I requested was for a double bed sheet to be put on both single beds to make it a little bit more comfortable for my 1 year old son to sleep in between us, this was also denied by telling me there was a shortage of bed sheets there was no double sized sheets available.
At that point I wasn’t too concerned if I would get a double bed but wanted my 1 year old to sleep ok so we asked for a baby cot which was also not provided, instead we was told it would cost 14€ in addition to the 86€ already overpaid for the room which was absolutely pathetic. 
The individual presenting themselves as a hotel manager did not speak English instead she had her 13 yr old son translate whilst she was on the phone. Then she asked for a caretaker to zip tie the 2 single beds together so they do not move, however the mattresses would still move which I thought was completely ridiculous.
The wifi did not work properly as when asked for the actual password my message was ignored. 
To summarise the entire shocking experience I do not wish for anyone to experience the same thing. I’ve stayed at 100’s of hotels worldwide and some have had some disadvantages but this one by far is the worse experienced. Please find an alternative hotel don’t waste your money and nerves on this one.

Very disappointing experience, uncomfortable beds, no customer service at all.

The entire experience was awful from arrival to checking out. Horrible staff presenting herself as a HOTEL MANAGER with 0 customer service approach. 
Inconsiderate, overpriced, uncomfortable and very ignorant. 

Awful experience, unhelpful staff,

We were heading for Aachen's excellent Christmas market but due to busy work schedule we had to take what came- Hotel Gloria. The hotel is situated in the middle of an industrial estate...really! A disembodied voice told us the door to our room was open and there we were! There was no tea and coffee facilities, but the shower was large and refreshing. Next morning the usual German breakfast was there, no complaints, even had a boiled egg! The cost was €140 for two days for two people- no complaints! If you want a basic room and breakfast Gloria won't disappoint- just close your eyes as you drive away, it is in an industrial estate!

Basic but clean

Desperate for a bed having traveled from South Bohemia in the Czech Republic (we had not accounted for the Aachen Horse Races which had hoovered up all of the accommodation in the area)   we were told about this hotel that was situated on an industrial estate in Alsdorf.  We pitched up at the Hotel Gloria and there was one remaining (small) bed.   A cool 100 euros (cash) bought us a 3/4 size bed (lucky we are not so large) and a surprisingly large shower - but not much else! The outside temperature was around 36C outside and inside the room it was not much different with no a/c or even a fan to cool us which made for a very hot and sticky night.  Unsurprisingly there were very few people in the restaurant although I have to say the "schnitzel und salat mit pommes" was just acceptable.  The beer was not!  Breakfast was the usual standard fare (cheese, meats, rolls,tea and coffee) but erring on the cheap side.  The yogurts were out of date so I didn't try them.  

Under different circumstances I would not have chosen to stay at a place like this (we like to stay in Pensions or Privats) but Hotel Gloria saved the day and provided parking and accommodation for two weary travelers - so I can't complain too much.
