Bacharach - Pension am Markttor

What do they say “location, location, location”.  The Pension am Markttor is in the perfect location.  Close to everything, shops, restaurants, bakery, ice-cream (you will definitely want to try the ice-cream shop around the corner), and historical spots.  It is also right across the road from the KD (KolnDusseldorfer) River Cruise ticket office.  The owner of Pension am Markttor is the sweetest.  She was welcoming and when we left two days later, it was hugs all around.  The breakfast, included with the room rate, was very good.  A nice selection of items to choose from.  My favourite was the bread, Brie and smoked salmon.  Coffee was also very good.  Room was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. It is close to the train tracks, but you did not hear much of the passenger trains.  However, there were a couple of cargo trains that were disruptive.  Having said this though, I wouldn’t change where I stayed.

Location, location, location. 

I stayed here for four days in June 2018 the location is excellent and very close to all the historic sites. The host was very friendly and she served a fine buffet breakfast. Very comfortable and clean room. Excellent value all round. Bacharach itself was one of the highlights of my trip and this hotel just made my stay perfect.  a visit to the near by village of Steeg is  also a must see..

I'll start by saying this  hotel is old just like the rest of Bacharach. The owner is friendly enough and let us check in a couple of hours early.There is no elevator so you'll have to carry your luggage up the stairs which makes up for no fitness room.We booked the double room which has a private bathroom. Plenty of room for two people with a small sitting area. Double pane windows and rolling shutters blocked most of the train noise. The trains never woke us up. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again.

Two night stay

We spent two night here as we drove northbound on the Rhine. Check-in was easy with the friendly owner. She spoke great english and helped with many of our questions. We were on the third floor, so carting luggage up was a bit of a chore. The room was clean and cozy, however the ensuite was about half the size it we would have liked. About 3' wide by 6' long. We made it work. She put out a good breakfast spread each morning with ample to eat.One morning even had scrambled eggs and bacon which was rare during our Europe trip, but certainly welcomed.  Wifi worked well. We would certainly recommend staying here.

Good location in quaint Bacharach

Given the price, this is a pretty good deal. The location is perfect, with metered parking (day time only) only 150 feet away and the shortest distance to the river pier. Breakfast is decent. Ellen, the host, is helpful and accommodating if we follow rules or protocol. The room we stayed in small but adequate. As almost all hotel there, do not expect AC, and it would be warm especially for rooms on the top floor. So windows have to be opened after midnight. Train noise is an issue but again, most hotel has the problem. Overall I do recommend the place.
