Stayed here since Bad Toelz was pricey and booked out - a great decision! Our young daughter loved the fun magic decorations, and the staff was helpful and accommodating. Quiet, good parking, but still within walking distance of a few places and easy driving distance to Bad Toelz. Would stay here again.

Fun little place, off the beaten path

WOW, what a wonderful surprise, something unusual around each corner with a magical theme,staff very friendly and breakfast tasty. The theme ran through into each room with amusing photos of pieces of art.

Surprise 

The Hotel zum Zauberkabinett is a delight. If you get the chance to stay there, I strongly suggest you take it. The owners, Alex and Connie, are truly wonderful people who will make you feel more than welcome. 
The rooms are all really nice, clean, spacious, modern and comfortable. 
The location is amazing -- Bad Heilbrunn is a quiet, scenic, beautiful place to stay, neatly framed by the Alps, and the perfect base from which to plan tours, walks and hikes. There's plently of spectacular scenery to explore in every direction!
Alex is a wonderful, genial host and an excellent chef as well! You'll love the food, and the service is both friendly and impeccable.
As the name suggests, the hotel is themed around magic, mystery and illusion. Almost everywhere you look, you'll notice odd details, strange illusions and things being not quite what they appear to be -- there's even a table and a set of chairs on the ceiling of the restaurant! 
The hotel is home to some special magic shows that you can enjoy with your evening meal -- Alex will explain how it all works. These shows are highly entertaining and well worth seeing!
I loved staying at this hotel. It's a modern, clean, comfortable hotel but with old-fashioned standards of friendly, faultless service. All the staff are truly dedicated to making sure you have a very good time and an enjoyable stay. All in all, it's just magic!

An amazing, wonderful, enchanting place to stay! Just perfect!

I wish I could give this hotel a higher rating.  This was not your typical hotel and we loved that each room was differently themed.  The whole hotel is themed to magic and optical illusions.  The interior is a bit of a maze of rooms with everything from a hall of mirrors, to an MC Escher stairwell, to a dungeon in the basement, to a room in a cave.  This would be the home of the mad hatter and we loved how unique the hotel was.  

There were sculptures popping out of the walls, and instructions to create your own optical illusion of a person coming out of a hat.  What a fantastic stay.  The staff was super helpful and friendly as well.  

We went for a walk around the hotel along a river and through the country.  We were also able to walk to dinner.  Parking was easy, free and secure.  There was free wifi, too.

Amazing Decor!!

A really interesting and quirky hotel which was excellent. Only a few rooms so very personal attention. Each room has some association/decoration with magic. Lots of interesting stuff to look at. A very attentive welcome, clean, large bedroom, good continental breakfast, excellent value for money. No dinners on the evening we stayed (Wednesday) but a local pizza place 5mins walk away offered a good choice. Some weekends there are magic presentations (book well ahead) - they were rehearsing when we were there. Very different and we loved it.
