A small family-run hotel consisting of several buildings spread over a spacious park-like property. If you arrive later you will be expected and personally welcomed. The rooms are in very good condition and always clean. The breakfast buffet is rich and can be supplemented by freshly prepared dishes. I have regularly tried different hotels in the area and feel very comfortable here. Since I like jogging the local edge situation is ideal.

Idyllic and quiet hotel

We stayed in this hotel for one night and again had a very warm welcome. The hotel is run by a family and you always feel that they want to make your stay very nice. 
This time we got a small apartment in the 'farmer's house', it was lovely. Well and modern equipped. Very quite place with even a nice outside area to sit when the weather allows.
Breakfast in the morning is good, although would recommend to hire more service. Not sure if the hotel was fully booked when we were there but only one person at the service in the morning. The result is that tables are not cleaned and you have to look for your clean table to get seated. For the rest they serve you very good.
Overall, a very nice place to recommend. We will also come back again.

Again a very warm welcome

A lovely hotel; very warm welcome; very good rooms, well appointed, given a different room better suited for our two dogs; very good associated restaurant; excellent evening meal and good breakfast. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Highly recommended

A nice hotel with a very private and personal service. When we arrived at the hotel in the early evening, the lady already was waiting for us and warmly welcomed us. We checked in and got a nice room in the main building with a very nice and modern bathroom. We really loved this room.
Breakfast in the morning is good and for sure enough. It was a relaxing stay and we come back again.

Very personal service

Hotel-restaurant Forellenhof is well situated in a small town in beautiful Sauerland, Germany. Reception was a bit strange. The lady of the hotel offered an upgrade in a big house opposite the main building for only 10 Euro extra per room. Rooms were newly furnished, etc. The one condition was that we give her feedback about the rooms, also because there were a few surprises in the rooms, she told us with a soft voice. Our friends took the room on the ground floor and ours was one floor up. Our room had the tiniest bathroom I have ever seen. You head to sneak between WC and the door to get in it and only then you close the door. Our friends had a much bigger room and bathroom, by the way. The surprises were: a built-in radio in the wall (with one working radiostation) of the bathroom and light emitting stripes in the closets when you opened the doors. Beds were good. In short: an average hotelroom as you see them all over the world. However no coffee and tea station and no drinks in the minibar. That it was very quiet in the evening and at night, has to be mentioned. The next morning the lady was very keen on having our feedback. When she heard what she did not wanted to hear, she immediately turned into the talking mode and tried to explain in a monologue why I was wrong and she was right. Apparently and definitely not open for feedback. She had never had any complaints from other customers and I had it all wrong. She had explained already upon arrival, where we could get drinks (from a machine and 100 meters through the open from our room) Hadn't I listened yesterday afternoon? You stupid guest! Checking out she forgot  (or was it because of the feedback?) to charge the extra 10 Euro's.....
