Wow, dreadful. I appreciate there's a pandemic on but holy moly, no one at check in, you call a number and get a code for the lock box.

Sticky carpets, peeling wallpaper, absolutely filthy rooms, no A/C, exposed electrical sockets, random nails on floor, bathroom was minging. No elevator, didn't have rooms we booked either. Genuinely like a £20 hostel, and thats doing a £20 hostel a disservice. 

Onsite secure parking is an open area across the road, not great if on a bike.

First "hotel" I have ever walked out of, no way in the current climate I would even consider staying.No markings for social distancing at all.  So bad we got back on bikes for 2 hours to get to a decent nights sleep. Not a single redeeming feature.

Avoid this hostel like the plague

We booked one night bed and breakfast we were sent the combination code to get our room key and where to park, WiFi codes etc. We got onto the hotel OK but  there were no staff at all in the hotel from 3pm or we didn't see anyone all evening. The room was very hot the windows had been left open and so let all the hot air in. No air conditioning or fan to cool room and no one to ask if we could borrow a fan. After reading and translating reviews I got the impression we weren't going to receive breakfast. When my husband went downstairs we were informed that was indeed the case. We were offered a voucher to use at a cafe or a small discount of €5 each which we opted for. However I feel that wasn't suffice since that was what we booked and was only told about this at the very last opportunity.  Unfortunately I don't recommend this hotel.

We made a reservation via booking.com and everything seemed good until we arrive at the property and the hotel does not exist!! There was a paper sign in German ”closed for now” and renovation stuff everywhere. When calling the hotel, it just went to answering machine. We met other tourists at the door as well who had made reservation and they were equally confused. Luckily booking.com arranged us another hotel for the night. Weird stuff.

The Hotel is closed down!!!

For the past 6/7 years we have stayed at this hotel and have always been satisfied - apart from last year when we left a Kindle Reader there - phoned up and it had not appeared ! - but it was our fault.  However this trip we were allocated a small room 3/4 lots of stairs up - problem with the door lock.  The food at this hotel is very good - but "if" we stay again we will request a room nearer the ground floor.

Perhaps we picked a "bad day"

My husband and I were driving though the Black Forest and wanted to stay somewhere near baths, but were not interested in Baden-Baden. We miscalculated our drive time and found ourselves in the middle of a rain storm, approaching 2100hrs without a hotel (not a good thing in this quiet area of Germany). We arrived in Bad Wildbad (not on the original itinerary) and fell in love. The evening manager at Hotel Sonne welcomed us, gave us a beautiful room overlooking the river and kept the kitchen open in the Hotel restaurant. He worked around our crude knowledge of the German language and was wonderful all around. 
The room was exquisite, with a nice balcony overlooking the river and town; the breakfast was really good and bountiful. We stayed two days and went to the magnificent roman baths in town, hiked the river and park area, and generally loved the whole area. Bad Wildbad is truly a gem, and Hotel Sonne is a must stay. We prefer this to the over rated Baden Baden any day!!!!
