In many hotels, the single rooms are sometimes in an awkward location or are just strange and my room on the ground floor was a little like that, but it had a comfortable bed, a large closet, and a a small sitting area. From the dinning room upstairs you had a fine view of the Black Forest while you enjoyed a nice breakfast or a home cooked traditional dish for dinner. The Sonnenstube is close to the train station, but be forewarned it is a steep walk up the hill - the owner will pick you up if needed. Hospitality is written in capital letters here! I had a fantastic stay.

A place like home

We spent a lovely 3 nights at the Landhotel Sonnenstube. 

The host is incredibly friendly, helpful, and informative, and he gave us a warm welcome. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel as it was a bit pricey for us (15 EUR each) but the breakfast was good. I wasn't too impressed with the coffee (straight from a coffee machine with different drink options) but the rest was satisfactory - fresh bread rolls, cheese, meats, cereal, jams, etc. 

The room was simple and comfortable, and although the decor is old-fashioned it fitted the traditional style of the hotel perfectly. I loved the old prints and paintings in the room and the corridors. 

The view and location of the Landhotel Sonnenstube is superb, and we were blown away by the landscape. Absolutely stunning. 

We also had a parking space for our rental car which was really nice! 

I'd highly recommend staying here if you are on a budget and you want a simple, comfortable,  and homey place to stay :-)

Diamond in the rough in Baiersbronn

What a fabulous place ! High up on the hill overlooking the Black Forest.
The owners are so obliging and forthcoming, giving you service and advice like in the olden days ... So it's very easy to feel at home ! The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired with fresh quality local produce. If you need something specific , just ask the host ... He will be more than happy to oblige.he also is a fountain of knowledge for all the local attractions and sightseeing... Forget the guide books just ask him...
The value for money is great with the rooms having everything you need and a great balcony overlooking a magnificent view. If you can have dinner there ... Good home cooked meals that were very tasty. I for sure will be back ...it's an easy stroll to the train station ( 15 min) and if you need the host will pick you up free of charge ... All In all a great place with great people and great service all at a very reasonable price.

Tolle Gastlichkeit in wunderschönen Lage !

What a find! Not only reasonably priced the service we received was fantastic. Although the owner could speak no English the son Marcus could and he was terrific in explaining the menu to us. Although we were only thinking of having B&B after a night at a local restaurant which was overpriced and the food underwhelming we decided to eat at the hotel in the evening. Breakfast was all you could eat and the evening 3 course meal cost no more than 14 Euros. Afternoon tea and cake was free and you could help yourself to any drinks from the bar but these were to be paid for by an 'honesty' tab. Free local bus and train transport made getting about very easy as no need to take the car. The room was large with a table and chairs, TV etc. with a shower/bathroom. We had the best weather with a large west facing balcony in order to soak up the last of the evening sunshine if we were not out.
