A very beautiful hotel with a view of Watzmann. The staff is extremely friendly and always strives for the well-being of the guests. A very rich breakfast buffet with a magnificent breakfast terrace from which you can view Berchtesgaden and Watzmann magnificently. An absolute tip for a stay in Berchtesgaden. I would love to come back!

Any time!

I was at the Krone Hotel for a night in September 2020 and slept in a single room. What I liked: +My bright room with a nice, large balcony and great view +free parking at home or a few steps further +safe and clean +On request I was given a lunch package instead of breakfast - if you asked the guest first what they would like to clean (to avoid a sausage for a vegetarian) it would be perfect. What I didn't like was: -The facility is quite old and would have to be upgraded once again with pragmatic measures - One carpet runner in the bathroom amatured over the Corona-time?

Solid stay with air up

There were two for four nights with breakfast there, very friendly staff and owners, super, fresh and sustainable breakfast buffet, always something extra and everything open- unpacked, free afternoon tea, rooms large, modern and clean, as well as the bathroom with plenty of storage space, daily up-to-date guest facilities, room views super nice, guest card with good bus connections free, just 10 minutes walk to the place, we'd love to come back

Comfortable hotel, good price performance ratio

We stayed at the hotel for three nights, cleanliness left to be desired, dust on all the drains of the sinks overflowing had probably never been cleaned, black crust that you can see from the toilet. Bathing too narrow. Very unattended carpet staff not very friendly. We didn't feel comfortable here. Breakfast was standard. Corridor to the rooms was creepy.

Nothing special.

This was our third visit in 8 years to the Hotel Krone and as ever it was an absolute delight.  The location continues to deliver both views and atmosphere and our hosts, the wonderful Familie Grafe are as welcoming and helpful as always.  If you want a fantastic family run hotel,  this is it.

Third Visit To A Fantastic Hotel

A great stay at Hotel Krone! I love that the hotel retains an old-fashioned chalet feel, from the simple folksy artwork in the hallway to the knotty pine in the room to the individual room keys (and I mean real skeleton-style keys, no modern cards here). This is definitely the type of place I expect in the alpine region, not an overpriced pretentious hotel (but there's a couple of those in the region if that's what you're into). 

Krone's buffet breakfast was awesome. The view was nice - Kehlsteinhaus and the river was visible from our room. The room was clean, comfy and quiet. The bathroom tiny, but very well thought-out with everything you need (including shelf space). Also, as a male couple, we never felt uncomfortable or out of place.

As for the location and walking... you will need to walk into town for dinner. This is about 15 minutes (uphill on the way back) along Locksteinstraße with an incredible view walking toward town. Unless you have mobility issues or can't take the uphill walks, you probably won't need a car in Berchtesgaden. We arrived via the 840 bus from Salzburg (also called the Watzmann Express) and departed the bus at the Salzbergwerk stop, just down the hill from the hotel (hint: do not take a bus all the way to the Hbf main station or you'll be in for quite a long walk). The hike up the hill from Salzbergwerk is very steep, but short. A few days later, we caught the same 840 bus down to the Hbf station when leaving town. However, this may not be easy if you're bogged down with big suitcases (rolling bags and backpacks would be suitable, though).
Everything in town was easily walkable. When visiting Obersalzberg, we walked 20 minutes to the ObersalzbergBahn cable car (which I do recommend) and got off at the top station. From there, it was a 40 minute walk to the main area. 

Loved the hotel and would certainly return!

Fantastic Stay!

We have stayed at Hotel Krone multiple times over the past 25 years.  It just keeps getting better!  My only regret is that there aren't sheep and goats in the pasture below the hotel anymore!  We have always had great service and feel quite welcom.

Outstanding choice

Unfortunately, my stay at the Hotel Krone has already failed at the managing director, Mr. Grafe. I wanted to climb the mountain for a whole week in June 2019, but had to postpone it to July because of the snowfall. I was flexible in time and asked Mr. Grafe several times for appointments when a room was free. Instead, he always wrote me in many emails only laconically when nothing was free. In the end, I didn't feel welcome as a guest in this house. Good that there are many other beautiful hotels in Berchtesgaden.

Unfriendly, non-cooperative managing director

We were very impressed with our stay.  We were able to check in early and made the quick trip to the Eagle's Nest.  We had a nice choice for dinner.  Our room was very clean and the balcony offered great views of the surrounding area including the Eagle's Nest.  Many sights were close so we stayed a second night.  Breakfast both mornings was outstanding with hot and cold offerings.  The owners went out of their way to make our stay pleasant including reserving a car space close to the hotel.  We will return and highly recommended.

Couldn't ask for more

The room was very spacious, located on the top floor with a small balcony. The facilities and the bathroom are well equipped. The breakfast is rich, the staff is always friendly. The next short vacation in Berchtesgaden we will spend again at the Hotel Krone.
