We stayed here for two nights over the May bank holiday weekend, the room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable, there was no tea/coffee making facilities or hair drier but that is no problem for us, the shower was really powerful and plenty of hot water, there is an upstairs terrace and a patio next to the car park, we ate in the restaurant both nights we were there and had different meals both nights, all the food was wonderful, the breakfast was plenty big enough for us with all the usual German breakfast items, the coffee as we've come to expect in Germany was excellent.

Good basic hotel with wonderful food

We stayed here for two nights recently. The Hotel is in Wehlen about  5 minutes drive from Bernkastel Kues. It is a traditional German Hotel. The rooms are comfortable and exceptionally clean. There are no frills, eg wi fi, hairdryer etc however the beds are comfortable, everything is spotlessly clean, the shower is hot.The rooms are cleaned daily.  There is an outside patio and a veranda overlooking the vineyards and the river. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, who immediately showed us around on arrival and took a drink up to the veranda for us to enjoy the view. We had dinner on the first night and enjoyed it so much we came back for dinner the second night. All home made and excellent .Very good prices.  Particularly liked the dressing of the plates with herbs and chopped veg. Home made soups are recommended. Other people came to the restaurant both nights (who were not staying in the hotel ) for dinner. some were lucky, some were not as the restaurant  was full. Both the proprietors were very helpful and have good English (better than my German) although my other half speaks more German, and they really tried to help us with local travel tips. if you are looking for a boutique hotel then this is not for you (spend more) however it is a great stay at an incredibly reasonable price with a lovely breakfast included. Would definitely stay here again. There is a local church with bells however did not bother us unduly as we believe we should fit in to local culture.

Wonderful food and comfortable clean Hotel

We were looking for a central place so that we could visit many places from one point. This is exactly what you need, a clean room, reasonable breakfast, quite village, free parking, we had a big room(maybe we were lucky)

We had dinner once and was absolutely great, two ladies do speak English (at least we had no problems). We stayed for 4 nights

Bernkastel (5km away), Trier (45 minutes) Cochem (one Hour)

Would we come back?, most probably as it was value for money

Nice and Central

Hotel Restaurant Hauth. The hotel was a disappointment. It seemed to be run by two middle aged ladies who were very pleasant though did not speak much English, but tried. There was free parking, an outside patio, and an upstairs terrace that overlooked the Mosel vineyards on the mountain across the river, and we decided to have dinner there and the food was very good and reasonably price. The hotel was priced reasonably as well. But, the hotel is old and in desperate need of a makeover. The room was dark, small and the beds were exceptionally low, with particularly uncomfortable straw chairs. There was no elevator, AC, or wi-fi.  It is smack on the road and though there is little traffic, what traffic there is, is easily heard and the adjacent church rings the bells. The breakfast the next morning was a solid average and acceptable.
Pros and cons, but ultimately, just average. There are numerous guest houses on the actual Mosel, many of which seem 'off the grid' but beautiful.

Average Hotel in Micro Town

We did not stay at the hotel but it was recommended to eat there which we did a 2 or 3 occasions while staying in Wehlen. Run by two sisters- one of whom is an excellent cook. Outdoor dining area under the trees and while just off the road it is a very quiet  village road. We tried various things from the menu and all were excellent. The wine was reasonably priced and the carafe wine was good value and quality.The service was attentive but not pushy and a nice casual environment.Would recommend this restaurant.
