It's a nice little place with beautiful view on Harz mountains. The room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable. Simple and but good breakfast. There is a restaurant inside with good local food. Free WiFi (slow). 
+ Really nice service!!!! Reasonable prices of rooms and meals
- No payment with the card (except EC), instant coffee for the breakfast (personally, I like to start my day with cup of a good fresh coffee).

good location, nice service, no card payment

We stayed for six nights and got room 1 which seems to be the bridal room with four poster bed. Panoramic views (excellent), massive space. The bed was comfortable.

The review before covers a fair amount of detail so won't repeat. The staff very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast good. Dinner for veggies they happily modified the meal leaving out the meat increasing the veggies for the partner. They also had a dumpling range. One big dumpling (8 x 6 inches) & you choose your sauce. I stuck to Snitzel which was tasty. Wine good together with the beer.

We had some thunder storms whilst there but never directly overhead. Our room was next to the tower so a direct hit would have been interesting. Lightening conductors straddle the roof when you view from the tower so they are well prepared. You wouldn't be able to count the seconds from the flash to the bang. But sure the conductors would do their job.

WiFi worked but was sometimes temperamental on the login screen. I also got a 3G card from Media Markt onroute across Germany which I used for back up when the WiFi was temperamental - good deals.

Nice and quite. Much bird activity. Friendly goats and "Peanuts" the dog if in, likes his fun if you are a dog lover and enjoy the exuberants of a boxer. If you don't like dogs don't worry he doesn't live there but visits. We had a lock in type moment in the bar one night. Fun all round.

Six nights of enjoyment

Spend 3 nights here in mid August. We were here with 2 couples. 
We got here around 6 pm on a Monday night and went in through the restaurant. The lady working here also works for the hotel, it is all family owned it seems. She said she had already waited for us, and with a nice smile had us follow her to the rooms. She showed us the breakfast room and told us they serve breakfast between 8 and 10. Then she showed us the side entrance, which you can operate with your key. Next, she brought us up to the rooms. We had one room looking out front, GREAT view. Our room was looking back, so you could see the playground, the goats and the woods. Not so spectacular, but nice enough! 
The rooms had been recently renovated, you can tell. The floor has laminate, but you can hear the real floor boards squeaking underneath. The beds were fairly comfortable. 
The room had 2 armchairs, though not too comfy, they were good enough. A small table between them can serve for writing postcards or set up your computer. Free internet is provided, and easily accessible. There are 2 large chests of drawers, on top of which you find the TV and satellite receiver. The TV is tiny. Your evening entertainment should be something else. Ours was an old model, the other room had a flat screen, but was tiny also. Our room was setup to have a separate bedroom area, where you had a large bed, 2 nightstands and a small chest of drawers. Behind another wall was a large closet. We stayed only 3 nights, and ended up not unpacking much, but the suitcases easily fit in front of the closet and with that, were invisible to us at all times. 
In the bathroom you can see it was also fairly newly renovated, and not by professionals. The tiling looks professional, the paint job not so much. But it is still very cozy. 
The room decor is individual in the rooms, ours had large poppy and some other flower- stickers, which looked great enough. Our friends' room was painted in a strong tone of magenta. Not everyone's taste, but at least cheerful... :)
The one thing I disliked was that you need your shampoo, soap and shower gel. Upon arrival, we found 1 small package of shower gel on our beds each, for a one time use. Glad we had our own, but I really wished they would at least provide soap at the sinks. Make sure you bring your own, as you are bound to miss it.
There are curtains to the windows, but you also have blinds that will make your room 100% dark if you want. When you go there in the summer, make sure to have them shut when you leave the room, as there is no AC. In the front area, a lot of flies (not mosquitoes) came in when they opened their window that had no screen in it. In the back there was not one insect who came in, even though there were no screens here. 
The breakfast was not bad at all. You had a selection of white bread or rye bread, there was a toaster there also, and a good many roll kinds. You had a water boiler for your tea selection, which was small but sufficient. There was coffee in a therm, came out hot and fresh. You had a selection of yogurts and boiled eggs, you could choose 2 kinds of cereal and milk. There were 2 kinds of cream cheese, Nutella and different jams and jellys in small individual packages, and tiny trash cans on your table. You also found cheese, cold cuts of different kinds and some cucumber and tomato with it. For us, it was more than we could ask for. No hot breakfast served. 
You could serve yourself and choose your table, no one there to supervise how many rolls you ate. After you finished you just left your dishes at the table, and within minutes someone came to clear the table for you and make it available to the next guests. I also saw them check on the coffee and orange juice and other supplies while we were having breakfast, but never in the disturbing way.
On one day we came in for lunch, and much enjoyed the variety on their menu. Prices, especially on kids meals, were excellent.
Though the whole experience was rather basic (it is not a 5 star property), you felt very welcome both in the hotel (more B&B style) and in the restaurant. The staff was very eager to help, and was sweet and just made you feel welcome.
At night, there is absolutely nothing to do in the area. You need to travel to Blankenburg (a curvy, but short drive away) to find a restaurant open later than 8. 
Parking is easy, and always available. You can pull up your car to the entrance, and there is only one floor for the hotel, so you have only one staircase to haul your luggage up. No elevator, of course. 
Yes, I have stayed in better hotels. But none of them were 59 Euro per night and room, including breakfast, parking, and internet (this rate was for 3 or more nights). Very clean, very friendly. Next time we are in the area, we already know where to stay, and our friends will recommend it to their friends who also want to travel Germany some.
