We stayed there in December: first of all, if you want to enter the hostel, you need to go to the bar/restaurant first, where you will get the keys to the front door and the room. The room we stayed in was smelly and so cold, the heater did not work. The breakfast costs about EUR 6 and is rather nice, so that's a good thing. The rest  - I'd recommend it for short stays only.

I booked a room online for 2 weeks and sent an email to the hotel stressing that I was arriving late. When I arrived I found out the bar was closed and the reception of the hotel is inside the bar, I tried to reach anyone from the staff but there was no one there. I spent the night outside and returned the next day at 9AM to found the owner who doesn't speak english and couldn't check me in and asked me to return around 5 pm. When I returned again the receptionist told me that my booking was cancelled due to a no show, I told him that I sent 2 emails that I was arriving late.. Anyway they relocated me to another branch of their hotel for a night then they arranged a room with a bathroom for me for the rest of the visit. The only positive thing was that the hotel is right beside Tannenbusch sud station and there's a Penny market right across from it..
Check-in is from 5pm - 10pm so be careful!

Even though temp was 6C in Sep, owners refused to switch on heater or provide us with extra blankets
For veiled Muslim girls, you feel insecure if you are travelling alone, I was screamed at on a Sat night by neighborhood resident who seemed to be drunk

Not worth it

Its strength and only value is its location. It is right next to a tram stop (Tannenbusch Mitte, lines 16 and 63 stop there, it is only 3 stops away from Bonn Hauptbahnhof). A Penny Market is also adjacent to it, that is also a plus. So, it is very easy to approach Bonn from the hostel.
However, the place is almos horrible. There is only 1 bathroom (with toilet) per corridor, so it is always "crowded" and of course "dirty"... The rooms smell from tobacco since a pub is situated at the groundfloor -full of guys whom you would like to avoid during your stay anywhere in the globe!!!
...and the biggest minus is: NO INTERNET CONNECTION, do not believe them! There is access only from the bar!

do not expect too much

Worst place I have ever booked and luckily ended up not staying at. Came to Bonn for my university entrance test the next morning at 7:30 am. I arrived around 9:00 pm and waited for about an hour and half for my room; staff finally told me that I would be relocated to another hotel in a different city. Reason: "some" people (I booked a single room) still occupied it without letting know the management. Mysteriously, the cleaning lady (is there one?) did not notice either that my room was not empty when she cleaned it earlier that day (sounds like lame lie to cover up for classic room overbooking). They showed no initiative whatsoever in providing an adequate replacement. While confronting staff with my test situation and that closeness in the morning would be key to my success, I got a very aggressive response, reminding me of some sketchy formulated, probably made-up, german rights: either, I would go with them to their remote place, or cancel (for free, how nice is that right?) the booking at 11 pm. I just wanted to get out of there, this miserable situation, and canceled. There was no way that I would wake up an hour earlier just to sleep at a hotel that I did not book, in a city I did not want be in, to take a train to the place I payed for. Initially, the front desk guy tried to persuade me that I would not be able to find another hotel (luckily, my boyfriend at home found one in no time and booked it for me). They clearly tried to take advantage of me, being a non-native foreigner in a foreign country, and thought I would not dare to reject their absurd offer. That's when things got heated up and I got threatened to not leave a bad review. Otherwise, they would charge my credit card for this booking. In this matter, I will take my chances again.
