The hotel was quietly located, but with a close connection to the public transport network. The room layout did not leave any wishes open; only the pillow was individually unsuitable. At the request of the well-being after the first night and criticism of the pillow, this was exchanged on the initiative of the staff.

Friendly reception and advice for local activities

The Hotel Wieler surprises with very well equipped rooms. The breakfast is very good and a visit to the restaurant is highly recommended! (Don't be fooled by the outward impression 😊)

Very nice room

We spent one night in two of the apparently newly renovated double rooms. The check-in was neutral, neither particularly friendly nor unfriendly. The rooms themselves were both quite large, newly renovated and clean. Here and there there is still room for improvement, so only one of the two rooms had a wardrobe, the two rooms were missing (besides the existing towel heating) towels on the sink and a toilet paper roll holder. The breakfast was also okay, there was tea and coffee, we were e.g. but not asked if the accompanying food was worthwhile.

Solid hotel with newly renovated rooms

I spent a long weekend with my friends at the Landhotel Wieler. The hotel is family-friendly and family-run. The new hotel rooms are super designed and beautiful. The shower is a paradise from which you don't want to leave anymore. The beds are comfortable, the furnishings are cozy and everything is tip top clean. The dining room was cheap and everything was fine and sufficient. Service TOP. The restaurant is certainly not the latest shout- but that doesn't bother me. I'm looking forward to my next stay at the Wielers today.

On Sunday, we spontaneously visited the restaurant of the Wieler Landhaus and were absolutely enthusiastic! In a very conventional environment with very well-kept conventional values such as hospitality and courtesy, we were able to enjoy an excellently prepared meal. Wonderful! Since the first drink was waiting for something, we were deducted a drink from the restaurant's bill. I call that fair! Anytime!

Hmmm, that was delicious!

Because of a visit from friends, we spent the last weekend at this hotel and had a really great time! We never expected to find such a 'cheap' hotel in such a small town. The room was very freshly renovated, very clean and equipped with some convenience such as a Nespress machine, rainforest shower and a switchable glass from living room to bathroom! We have traveled a lot and have already stayed in some very good hotels. Such equipment is rarely seen; if rather in very high-priced hotels; and on the 'land' departure there was still something in the home restaurant - also here our achievements have been surpassed. All in all, a really great place to look for yourself! Once you get married and have a place to stay - it's really worth it!

Absolutely recommended hotel with restaurant!

We spent the weekend in Walberberg visiting friends there and were absolutely happy with our stay in the Wieler country house. The hotel has renovated some rooms, but the raw and cozy style has not been lost, but has been taken up again very nicely. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable, I slept wonderfully. The staff is also friendly and extremely competent and professional. We felt very comfortable and definitely welcome to come back.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in June in a single room.

Here is what I liked:

- My single room was newly refurbished (I stayed in room 27 on the second floor) and came with a double bed (140 x 200 cm) which was a nice surprise. The bed was quite comfortable, eventhough the mattress was on the hard side, but that is a personal preference I guess. The pillows were quite big and I mean big and not squishy, I slept with the small deco pillow instead.

- The shower in the bathroom was very nice. Shower gel an hand soap are provided in handy wall mounted squeezy bottles. For all the ladies out there - you might want to bring some shampoo and conditioner, especially if you have long hair like me. The wash gels provided are nice but won't do a good job on making your hair soft and silky.

- The continental breakfast, which was provided for until 10 am every morning, was good. The hotel provided fresh rolls, bread, cheeses and sausages, jam, fruit, joghurt,nutella, eggs, juice, coffee and cereals (I am sure I have forgotten to list something here, but you get the idea, they have a bit of everything).

- My room was very clean and with every turn down service I received a new bottle of water. Eventhough it was sparkly and I would have liked the choice of a non sparkling water too.

-  The food in the restaurant was good but as another reviewer mentioned, the menu might be a a bit dated or you could say its a rustic, traditional German style menu. However, I had the veal one night and the baked cheese another and I enjoyed both dishes. And after all, they call themselves a country house, I was not expecting French cuisine.

Here are the things I didn't enjoy so much:

- Service! Or more the lack there of...On my first night I sat outside on the terrace and I had to wait 25 minutes before a waiter made it over to my table so I could order a glass of wine. And what annoyed me even more is the fact that a few tables, the people arrived well after me, were served first. 
After I was finally able to order my glass of wine I waited another 5 minutes but no wine in sight... so I went inside to the bar to just get one myself but was told that my glass had just been brought out.
I ended up with two glasses being brought to my table, but enjoyed one for free... nice touch but at that point too little too late!

- Being sneered at by the hotel owner (as I found out later).... let me explain: On my first morning I sat out on the terrace for a few minutes after my breakfast. there was a guy out there watering the plants but I didn't mind. What I did mind is that I was started down and sneered at as I was sitting there. There was also some mumbling going on. So I guess sitting on the terrace is not permitted during daytime... only during the opening times of the restaurant when you pay to sit there and wait 30 minutes for your glass of wine...   

- But the story does not end there... same guy one day later was quite unfriendly to me when I walked from one end of the house to the next, to get to the exit. He asked me in a quite unfriendly tone what I wanted in the restaurant part of the hotel. Oh excuse me, I am one of your paying hotel guests, is it ok. to use the door to get out?!?!?!
Both instanced with Mr. Wieler (I guess) made me feel quite unwelcome and upon the second encounter I did consider to move to another hotel but could not find one on such short notice.

- The lack of black out blinds. I would have liked black out blinds, curtains or something as the only curtains provided let in quite a bit of light and during the summer this meant a bright room quite early.

All in all - nice new rooms, good food if you are into the traditional style German meals but brutal service and a grumbly owner who you might or might not come across.

I would have given the hotel 4 points in my rating but the unfriendly owner and the bad service brought it down to a 3.

Good Family Run Hotel

After a break at the hot springs, we decided to stay in a nearby village. We found a hotel via a tripadvisor. We settled quickly, although no one spoke Russian. The room for 2 people costs 72 euros. The room is ordinary, small, clean, quiet with a minimum of necessary things. The bed is ordinary. Not super large. In the room is a balcony. Warm. In front of the hotel, a minimum bar and a bakery. Mineral water bottles in the room. On the 1st floor there is a beautiful German restaurant.

Stop on the way

Stayed for long weekend whilst visiting friends and sightseeing in Cologne. Lovely hotel, great rooms, very clean hotel and friendly staff. Food was excellent.  Bar was great place to meet and chat. Staff all speak very good English. Would definitely stay again in the not too distant future.
