If you have a car or a bike this is a great destination. The rooms are not luxurious but simple clean and well appointed. Great typical German breakfast (included). We also enjoyed dinner in the outdoor gasthof. Lots of locals. Good food and beer. Great little town with working farms. Conveniently just across the square -an grocery and a bakery. And right in the middle of such a beautiful area. And everyone speaks English if you need that

A great location and fabulous experience 

Stephanie Schmidt and her family run an excellent hotel. They are experienced hoteliers. Friendly service, excellent breakfast and evening meals. The location of the Hotel is beautiful. Parking is free and the rooms all that one could wish for. First came here over 50 years ago and hope to come again - a genuine Bavarian Gasthof with much history and character.

As always an excellent welcome and high standards

My wife and I have visited this Gasthof on a number of occasions, and our latest stay was most enjoyable. There is adequate free parking for guests and the room we had was roomy with a balcony. The food and presentation is excellent and the buffet breakfast varied and plentiful. Free wi fi for those who need it. We will be back!

Continuing it's high standard

We were in Brannenburg a year ago, and this was another stopover for a few days en route to Austria. Glad to say that there was no real change and the hotel is maintaining its high standard. Our room this time around could have been larger, but it was adequate for the  few days and was spotless. The food in the restaurant is excellent and typically Bavarian.The hotel is in a quiet location.

Another trip to the Schlosswirt

My wife and I stayed here in September 2013, but having said that, this was out third visit to the hotel, so that in itself says something! I had lived in the village while attending a course at the Goethe Institut in the village way back in 1972, although sadly the Institut is no longer present there. The Schlosswirt is family run and the staff very attentive. The breakfast buffet is excellent, and the food in general typical Bavarian and plentiful. No hesitation in recommending this little gem! We will be back.

Typical Bavaria

I was stationed in Brannenburg in the British Army in 1955/56. How fortunate I was. It is a beautiful location and I recently returned there to stay in the 'Posthotel Garni.' Garni means 'with breakfast.'
This was fine for me because I had meals in various restaurants and with a German friend.
The Gasthof was very comfortable and quiet.      The Gasthof Schlosswirt produced most excellent  food and i would most heartily recommend this. Both places were extremely reasonably priced, especially after having travelled extensively in France. DSBrown
