We spent lovely three nights at Haus Aladin very recently. The best part was that we really haven't slept so well in ages as we did here. The room was quite basic but very clean. Nice bathroom with a window, which was great. The bed was very comfortable. The house is near a somewhat busy road but our room faced the other side so we didn't hear any external sounds during the night, also the rooms were quite well isolated so no noise or anything. Breakfast was nice although the coffee was typical German filter coffee. Location was great and there was (paid) parking nearby. You can get a parking card from the owner of the bed and breakfast for about 5e a day. There are also some free parking spots nearby but they are very popular so wouldn't count on those. There are a couple of good restaurants nearby.

Haven't slept so well in ages!

I have just returned from a Motorcycle tour and whilst in Germany we stayed at the Haus Aladin.
That is in Cocham, I cannot fault the place, it is in a very central position only a short walk to the River and amenities. The place is extremely clean and we were well looked after, breakfast is fine with ample selection and the owners are very helpful. I would recommend this as a great base to tour around this part of Germany and they will also supply a garage to park your Bikes in. We will go again.  

Great Place to stay

I will not moan about heat inside, because outside was +40C (July) and, as I understand, such hot weather is not usual there. But AC would help a lot. Other thing - no wi-fi at all.
Everything else was like perfect. Room was clean, good location, really good breakfast. Hostess was very nice and helpful. Each morning she recommended us nice places to see, supported with maps, descriptions, etc. I would recommend to rent a garage they offer. Parking places in the street were always full (at least in July). We stayed for 3 nights. Cochem is very nice town with castle and really good base for a daytrips to Mosel attractions.

Highly recommended

We had a lengthy 6 week vacation in Germany and stayed in 11 different towns and cities and had positive reviews for all but this bed and breakfast.  We attempted to make reservations in Cochem, Germany and we found this proprietor through Airbnb. She initially told us that the cost was incorrect and that the actual cost was higher.  Not finding any other suitable options, we accepted it and then she told us that we needed to book through her website and not through Airbnb.  Not finding any other options in that small town, we reluctantly made reservations as we were rapidly approaching our departure date and needed to have everything lined up before we left.

Too our misfortune, this turned out to be a very big mistake.  The proprietor was rude with a smile until the end of our stay.  She provided us with transportation from the train depot upon arrival but we had to carry our luggage over 1/2 mile after check out.  It didn't bother us as we packed light and are active, however, someone with a lot of luggage or less fit or elderly people may have had some problems.  While we we were awaiting our train at the depot, she arrived 10 minutes before our departure and made a big scene in front of other passengers.  She insisted that my 15 year old son had urinated in bed and that she had to dispose of the mattress and replace it with a new one.  She said that we must pay 60 Euros to replace the mattress.  My son was mortified at this public accusation and insisted that he did not urinate on the mattress.  As his parents, we know that he has never had such a problem since he was a baby wearing diapers and we believe him.  I told her that he may have sweated as it was incredibly hot in his room with the outside temperatures approaching 100 degrees F and there was not any air conditioning and a fan was not available to help provide relief from the heat.  We were unable to verify the allegations as we had to catch our train for which we had a reservation.  We relented and paid her the 60 Euros she demanded.  After she took the cash, she continued to chastise my son who was very well behaved and respectful to her throughout our stay.
Prior to that there were other issues that we would have overlooked, however, given her behavior, it is worth mentioning.  These issues include:
1.  The first breakfast she gave us one small carafe of regular coffee and one with decaf.  We didn't drink the decaf and never offered any complaints.  The next morning she said that she noticed that we drank the regular coffee but didn't drink the decaf so she then made two small carats of decaf and stated that in 15 years of business, no one has been able to distinguish the coffee and that we should drink these instead.  We thought that this was a communication problem with the language barrier, but upon further questioning, we did understand her correctly.  We thought this was bizarre, but we didn't complain and just purchased a regular cup of coffee when we left for our sightseeing.
2.  The house is located on a very busy thoroughfare with constant trucking from 7 am until 11 pm and it is very loud.
3.  We inquired about a nearby laundromat and she said that we could use her washer.  After we accepted her offer, she charged us 9 euros per load.  We paid less than half that elsewhere.

Bring your mattress protector!

A very close to Town Premises. A nice, friendly welcome. Clean and pleasant Room. We stayed two nights at this little Bed and Breakfast on the Main route from the north into Cochem in the Mosel Valley, and was a very nice place to be. 10-15 minute walk (depending on your pace) to the Centre of Town. En-suite facilities in the "Rose" bedroom. Clean, very fresh Room located to the rear of the property. We could still hear a little 'road noise' as it was warm and we kept the window on vent, but nothing substantial. Breakfast was a complete and satisfactory, "Continental" type Breakfast, and was very welcomed. We will definitely return.
