I wanted to experience a smaller German town located close enough to the Frankfurt airport before I continued my trip into Vienna. Eltville am Rhein was a perfect choice and staying at the Alta Villa made it even more so. It is easy to find from the city's train station--a block or so away. Upon arrival I was greeted by the owner who was friendly and enthusiastic. She made certain I had a cup of coffee in hand and my arrangements to the airport the following morning before I even checked into my room. 
The room itself was bright and airy and quite spacious for a solo traveler and I would guess for a couple as well. 
The room was clean and all furniture and comfort items were in excellent shape. The bathroom was enormous. I have stayed in rooms smaller than the bathroom in other hotels! 
Breakfast was typical German fare, and presented quite beautifully.
It was easy to see that the owner takes great pride in the hotel and goes out of her way to do a good job. I would place it as one of the best hotel experiences I've had. I recommended Alta Villa (and Eltville am Rhein) highly to anyone traveling in the area.

Great choice

The owners are so nice and eager to please. The courtyard is very charming and the rooms are comfortable. The train does go by but that is true for the entire surrounding area, even along the Rhein. Lovely breakfast with attention to detail and specialty coffees. We would definitely love to go back!

Charming and comfortable

This lovely little hotel has a wonderful staff and an excellent restaurant associated with it.  Eltville is charming (the rose gardens are exquisite), and the hotel was a delightful experience.  A good price, too.  The only possible problem for some would be the fact that the trains run close by, all night long.  Our room looked out toward the restaurant, in the direction of the tracks, and we like to have our windows slightly open.  We heard many trains.  Our traveling companions in the room across from us, facing the street did not hear the trains.

Lovely room. Great food, wine and service.

Very central location with a short walk from the station. Very accessible by walking to all local attractions and the Rhine. Old style inside restaurant where lovely breakfast was served and an large outside courtyard eating area. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs overlooking the road with 2 dormer windows and light and airy. Bathroom very clean and practical. With an extra one in the room (making it 3) it was still pretty good. Good wifi. Some traffic noise at night but being so central not really a problem.
