The hotel is only a few minutes from the subway. It reminds of a rented apartment. The rooms are simple, but with TVs. The bathroom has shower, toilet and sink. You hear noises from the neighbouring rooms and from the hallway, but there is no street noise. The breakfast is complete but not exactly luxurious. The operators are friendly and competent. For a night near the fairgrounds is completely sufficient.

Easy and good for one night

Mommy, what a terrible experience... I practically spent two nights sleeping in this old, noisy, air-conditioned cabin with a landlord laughing in your face and instead of helping you, just thinking about pocketing the money.

Get out of here if you can.

Customer Service:

We have arrived at around 6.15 pm after long drive in full heat and were incredibly tired. To get inside you need to ring a bell and owner (probably)  who lives on 1st floor opens the door. There is not any official reception area. When made the stairs guy only looked outside of the door gave us straight keys and was waving and showing with his hands go up on 2nd floor and repeated go, go. I was trying to ask some information regarding check in, payment and breakfast, but he continued to say all tomorrow and no problem, your room is on 2nd floor. There was some tv backgroud noise so I guess there was some important tv show. After a short rest app 1 hour we went down to collect our stuff from the car. At that moment I have seen 2 A4 papers attached to the wall on 1st floor  in German and English saying that on Tuesday an Friday parking square cannot be utilized after 18.30 due to next day market. When we arrived due to speed of check-in and being constantly sent in our room we even didn't have a chance to notice it! And the owner didn't tell us anything or in any other manner indicated those papers. When we went downstairs our car was already removed. I run back to the guy asking for help (it was 7.15 pm) and guy told me nothing to do and car can be collected only next  morning. I am pregnant 7.5 month with huge belly and all our staff in the car. So I've asked guy several times to give me a phone number for the service to call. He refused and called 2 times in German (neither me not my husband speak a word in German) somewhere himself, those were very short calls and he said nothing to do now and only tomorrow. I have insisted to get phone numbers from him to try directly, but he only laughed at my face saying all tomorrow and nothing to do. For us it was a huge problem, if I exclude all our luggage in the car and dog bowls and food, we came to Germany for a grill competition and had to go next day early morning to contest area with all our stuff being in car obviously. I went outside to explain situation to my husband and we were completely shocked, luckily there was a guy in the street who spoke English and saw our car to be moved away. He helped us calling police in German and explaining situation, he got for us all contacts for the company who removed our car and helped us to call there. They were so nice to wait for us and permitt to go and pick up car immediately. It all really happened in app 1 hour time. They told us that fine is 335 EUR. We went to hotel to ask them to help us call taxi and  also call car removing service and try to explain we were not able to understand note on the parking place as it was only in German and hotel didn't inform us. Guy laughed in the face of my husband saying it's not his fault, problem and fine was ok, as it both for police and removing car and refused to  help. Considering overall situation we were completely shocked. They have those markets twice a week, clearly they saw we can speak 0 German, we arrived at 6.15, we couldn't notice their print paper on wall as when we made stairs he was waiting for us with keys sending in room and getting all our attention immediately. We admit it's our fault and not excuse we park where we shouldn't, but obviously we expected either some help from them (which we got 0) or at least some discount , which they also refused in an very arrogant manner. 

Breakfast: 

I still do not know if they do it or not. When booking we saw complements for breakfast, but we didn't got any information and there was no indication where breakfast could even be served, timing etc... 

Room:

Overall room was quite  clean and bathroom is new. However ventilation in bathroom was not working properly. You cannot start it manually and it was not always staring automatically, sometimes yes, sometimes no. 
There is no clima or ventilator in room. And it was more than 30 C in those 2 nights we stayed there. So we had to sleep with open windows and I was badly bitten by some bugs (photo attached). I had bad rash on my both arms, legs and chest and face((( Lining was washed, but very old with already black stains (looked like someone's legs) which are not getting washed anymore (not nice to see). And some other small things like in room for 2 they put 1 glass on the table for watter etc...

Check-out:

Check-out is at 11.00. Around 10.00 we started to put our things slowly in the car. We had quite a lot of things due this trip was part of bigger trip and our dog staff. Being on the 2nd floor with no elevator we had to go up and down, considering I was not lifting anything heavy. The owner got very nervous and afraid and started to tell me you have to pay. Again terrible communication, not polite at all. So I had to answer in same manner  we are not checking our yet.

Horrible service and people approach

A convenient, clean and friendly small hotel in a quiet dining-Rüttenscheidider side street with good price ratio. The door to the room is kindly and helpfully received, the room on the second floor (for strangers: no elevator, staircase a little narrow) is bright and equipped with a decent bed, the bathroom leaves a new impression, soap and rice mirrors were available, shower cloth unfortunately not, only two small towels. The door to the room closes somewhat hard, one has to close so that it does not open up; the couch is a flat-screen TV, although the reception room or the setting unfortunately did not look good. For one night I did not eat W.L-L-Signal and rice mirrors, unfortunately there were no shower cloths, only two small towels. Pleasant little hotel in a good location

Hotel located in the centre of Essen Friendly home in a family setting No elevator so you have to go up with luggage.Last room on the 3rd floor Room (the 10) clean with just the necessary.Double bed of good quality Excellent breakfast prepared by madame Trés good quality price ratio!! 3 nights with breakfast:165 euros: Medium quality Wifi to improve I recommend the place

The hotel is rather simple, but there is nothing missing. The room was cleaned daily, everything was clean and the breakfast was neat. The location is very good right near Rüttenscheider Street and the fair. In the evening you can find pubs and restaurants there and the way to the fair can be easily made on foot in dry weather. Otherwise there are 2 stations with the subway. Would book there again!

I stayed for two days and the room was double, it was clean but one of the beds was to be made and the mattress was super soft and there was no spare, they gave me one more the next day.

 Well communicated, clean, but for youth.

I stayed here with my brother in law when attending a 2 day appointment in Essen University hospital. from the minuet we arrived both Piotor and his wife made us feel extremely comfortable. they are so friendly and attentive. the twin room which we had was v clean and comfortable,  and the extra bedding supplied was v comfortable. the breakfast was beautiful and fresh. you really couldn't ask for much more. if I was going to Essen again I would defiantly stay here.

Very nice atmosphere (family business), decent breakfast, clean, super location (beautiful area, two train stations or fair), rather modest (equipment is a bit old).

Stayed one night while visiting an exhibition at the Messe nearby. It's basic but clean, comfortable and in my experience quiet, with a great shower and excellent breakfast.

The owners were very friendly and I was able to check in a little later than normal. They also spoke English which helped!

There is no lift which may be a problem for some but not for me as I was only there one night with one small bag. The location was excellent - halfway between the town centre and the Messe and a short walk from both. Nice, trendyish area with nice looking bars and restaurants, and very close to the metro stop.

My wifi worked fine. For a basic hotel I have no complaints. Not as cheap as you might expect but it was a popular time to go so that may have affected it.
