Easy and fast central access by foot.
Did not understand the room was without private toilet/bathroom upon booking - however in the hall with four of this place’ rooms, there was 2 bathrooms. Both very clean.
Definitely great for a one night Ed or long stays.
Just out the door down the stairs to the main street you’ll find Cafe Extrablatt perfectly adequate for all three meals of the day.

Very clean, comfortable accommodation in a great location, with guest parking right in the middle of Flensburg.  Very friendly service and welcoming staff. A spacious double room with a shared bathroom 2 bathrooms to approx. 4 rooms) and a small but well appointed kitchen.  Excellent value for money.

Comfortable budget accommodation in a great location

Gastehaus Lavendel-City is the best location in Flensburg.  Just a stairway walk down to the main pedestrian outdoor mall, historic churches, buildings, and waterfront with beautiful sail boats. There are just a few rooms that are cleaned thoroughly and show no wear or tear.  The housekeeping staff are friendly, and owner/manager is very nice. The manager is only around from 4:00-6:00 pm so you need to check in at this time.  Although there is breakfast, including fresh fruit, it's not prepared for you.  We went to a Danish bakery a block away on the pedestrian mall. The biggest issue was the shared bathrooms -- two on each floor (two stories).  They too are amazingly clean and have ample white towels.  However if you like drinking water and go to the bathroom a few times per night (as I do), it's odd to wake up, unlock the door to dark hallway and find yourself to the bathroom.  Other guests may not have been disturbed, but there may have been a chance of bumping into a stranger in the night with your bed clothes.  For some, this may not be an issue, and considering the fun we had in Flensburg, I don't want it to overshadow the like-brand-new cleanliness, warmth of the manager, and beauty and history of a Flensburg visit. The other point is the location. Although in the center of everything -- it's not easy for taxi drivers to find their way there.  Although close to the Catholic Church in town, the directions from the hotel indicate a right turn down a driveway (which is wrong).  Be sure to turn left into the alleyway that runs alongside the Catholic Church. Also, the price of the room is discounted for this inconvenience of a shared bathroom -- it's a good deal.

In addition, if you do not speak German, be prepared for a lot of fun and engaging hand gestures.  We did not find many people in Flensburg that spoke languages other than German. However this is the charm of Flensburg, and was a welcome break from the relentless busloads of tourists in Copenhagen and Stockholm.  You will not see many tourists in Flensburg (from our experience at the end of June).

Clean, clean, clean - but no private bathroom

Our room was under the eaves so I had to stoop to get in and out of  my side of the bed. The door to our room opened directly into the kitchen dining area which was embarassing. You have to walk down a hall through the dining area to get to the shared bathroom. We slept very poorly because the bedframe was designed to be used with bolster pillows but there were none so our pillows kept disappearing down the back of the bed. Both mirrors in the bathroom and our room where mounted strangely high on the wall so I (of average height) could only see the top of my head. I found this place listed in the "bed & breakfasts" category, but there's no breakfast unless you count a jar of dry muesli. The place has all the charm of an Ikea showroom, and the coziness of an office suite which what I think the space was originally designed for. You can only check in between 4 and 6PM and they only take cash payment. Yes, it was clean.

No private bathrooms, no breakfast

Flens is my hometown so I'm a little biased. This B&B is perfectly located right on the Große Straße - the best shopping/historical area in the city (also pedestrian-only during the day). It's an apartment-style B&B with private rooms, plus a shared shower and washrooms, kitchen, and dining room; everyone has quite a lot of privacy. Not sure what it's like in the summer, but in autumn it's usually not fully booked, and it is homey, bright, and very clean. The owner is lovely and accommodating, and knows the city inside and out. You are steps from stores, pubs, restaurants, the picturesque harbour, and the main city bus terminal. The value is great for what you pay, and it beats staying at some generic hotel.
I recommend this B&B to anyone who plans a trip to Flensburg; you cannot get better value and a more authentic experience than at Gästehaus-Lavendel!

Perfectly located and great value for a stay in Flensburg

We were warmly welcomed at the first second we stepped into Lavendel Gastehause City. There was a lovely smell of lavendell and we even got the lavendel room! Bathroom is shared but very modern and clean, just as the rooms and public areas. Too bad no breakfast was offered... however, We would definately go back!
