I first stayed at the Rote Late Hohenhotel in the early 2000's when I was participating in a company offsite.  The hotel location is at a top of a mountain just outside of Baden Baden.  The views are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen, the hotel staff are friendly and the food is excellent.  
At night, I remember hearing owls in the forest that surround the hotel.  Whenever I am in that part of Germany I always bring my colleagues up to the hotel for lunch and they all are equally impressed with the location.   
Whenever I think of my favorite places I've been to in the world, this is near the top of the list!

An amazing slice of heaven in the Black Forest!

In July 2015, we were in the red laughter for the night with food. Somehow the flavor had changed. Staff nervous and unconcentrated. Poor service, drinks from large bottles at overpriced prices. Just unloving everything. Even when eating left the care of preparation behind. Three days in a row carrots as a side: previously unthinkable! With these defects, wearing dirndels does not help either. Just because of the wonderful view???? NO THANK YOU

We found this hotel by accident last year. The weather was foul, wet and windy with very low cloud. We were trying to get to Baden-Baden to find a place when we came across the Rote Lache at the top of the hill and the light was failing. We found they had a room so we stayed, and how pleased we were. Comfy, clean, accomodation and very good food. Weather next day just as foul, but you could see the view. 
Have been back for a longer stay this year and will be going back as long as I am able.
Just to sit and look - maybe - but try the kuchen, especially the Heidelberg, 25-30mm thick of lucious winberries. Heaven.
Ignore the very slightly used parts, this is just one of those special places.

A Delight.

As part of our family day, we were able to spend two beautiful days with about 30 people in the beautifully situated high-rise hotel, which can be described as a typical Black Forest hotel and which has two nearby dependencies if needed. We were fully satisfied with accommodation and food, including the price-performance ratio. However, it would also be welcome if all the bathrooms were equipped not only with a bathtub, but also with a decent shower wall, so that everything would not swim when you bathe in the bathtub. In the scope of the food we only pointed out the lack of vegetarian offerings and also the dishes.

Recommended hotel for hiking in the northern Black Forest

The Hotel Red Lache is impressive for its unique location high above the Murgt Valley in the northern Black Forest. You have a great view down into the valley, especially at sunset. We found this great. In the restaurant you sit at huge windows and can also enjoy the impressive view of very tasty food (Black Forest trousers, super cake selection). The service is impeccable, but attentive and not intrusive. The rooms are furnished with old furniture - but this one is well maintained and in excellent condition; so it has not fallen down in any way. Somehow the area of the Black Forest fits very well.

Single location, very clean rooms, 1a service

You live in a quiet place at about 800 meters above sea level between Baden-Baden and Forbach. It is an ideal location for hikers and excursionists. The Black Forest is comfortable, with nice service. The food is especially recommended. There is a fine Black Forest cheesecake or Frankfurt Kranz and various fruit cakes (heidel). You sit comfortably and look into the valley. In the summer it is worth spending the night outdoors. In the winter you can ski outside the house (alpine or run).

Good Food With a Beautiful View

Discovered this gem of a hotel more than 25 years ago on a weekend stopover in Baden Baden.Have stayed in 5 star hotels with Michelin star resturaunts all over the world but If I had to choose the place that to this day,still puts a smile on my face whenever I think about it Hotel Rote Lache is the place for me.
On a warm spring afternoon with a wheat beer or coffee in one hand & a piece of home made cake in the other sitting on a bench looking down the valley at the distant views beyond,believe me when I say you are as close as is possible to heaven on earth.

I discovered this jewel from a hotel over 25 years ago on a weekend trip to Baden-Baden. I've been to five-star hotels with Michelin-starred restaurants, but if I had to choose the hotel that's been making me smile on my face to this day, it's the Red Laughter Hotel. If you're sitting on the bench on a warm spring afternoon with a white beer or coffee in one hand and a piece of homemade cake in the other and enjoying the view of the valley, you're, believe me, as close to heaven on earth as you can get.
