I'm surprised by the amount of negative reviews here; I didn't experience anything like that myself. The owner of the place is very friendly and helpful, I didn't have to wait for him and there were no other problems with check-in. The place itself is nice and has an amazing library. There is a grocery store right near the tram stop and the area is quite nice, safe and quiet. The way here from the centre by tram takes about 12 minutes, but you have to be careful: if you are out late in the night and miss the last tram, the way can take up to one hour.

Nice and budget place to stay

This place doesn't deserve even 1 star. 
It isn't an hotel but shared appartments. The owner arrived with an hour delay leaving us with a 1 year old baby out in the cold an was impossibile to reach by phone. Once we arrived he brought is in a smelly dirty room in order to fill in the arrival doc. He showed su the room we where suppost to stay in and it was still to be cleaned from the previous guests. It wasn't a double bed room as requested but had two single beds one higher than the other that couldn't be put close. He would have "cleaned" the room and would have given it to is after 15/20 minutes. 
When we informed him that we were not going to stay in that filth he pretended 50% of the payment without providing a receipt. 

Terrible!!!

Terrifying

Owner unreacheable only booking.com call center was able to call him. He arrived 1h30 min late and when I asked explanations he was rude and arrogant 
It is not an hotel but he rent some room inside a building . Bad smelt and absolutly dirty. When he gave to us the key told us to wait 30 min to clean the room not ready yet
It was 1:00 PM
We left the Apartment and we pay half price for the night . He didn't want to give us any invoice so booking.com didn't refund us . Please stay far away from this hell!!!!

Stay far away from this hell!!!

I booked two rooms more a month ahead of my trip.  Four days before my trip I was informed that Vogesenblick had over-booked and could not accommodate us.  At short notice it was difficult to find alternatives and we had to take a hotel 20km from Freiburg.

We needed a room in a good price for one night and found this place at booking.com in a very good price compared to other places in Freiburg. Once we arrived we expected a motel but there was no sign. We called the number on the reservation and found out that we need to ring a bell on a building that looks like a house. So we went to the 6th floor where the rooms are located. Once we saw the reception we were shocked! We started worrying for the place but I turned out that the room was great, clean, convenient, warm and quiet! So I recommend this place value for money! I ll visit it again defiantly! The only thing that is tricky is that you ll not have a chance if you don't speak German :-( and that you need a car to reach the place. The parking might be tricky there.
