We were amazed to be able to reserve a room for three in this place in the city center just a couple miles from Neuschwanstein on the day before our visit there.  We heard about it through R. Steves.
The hotel manager (owner?) George was extremely polite and helpful.  
Really nice room, spotless clean, with a twin bed and a super comfortable king.  Pillows were moderately firm, just right.  All linens and towels smelled clean and fresh.  Fixtures in the bathroom were high quality, and there was plenty of very hot (and icy cold) water.  
Delicious buffet breakfast.  Also ate at the main restaurant. Quite busy, took a very long time to put in our order, but food was good, traditional Tyrolean.
On site parking available, adequate for our small SUV. It was easier for us to drive to the castles than taking the city shuttle, as parking there was not an issue even though it was very busy.

Excellent hotel, great location

For our second home during our recent trip through Bayern und Oberösterreich we stayed at this small, family-run hotel in charming downtown Füssen.  Our room was neat and clean, and well laid out. Plus, the staff was friendly and extremely helpful.  They have paid parking on site, plus there’s a convenient elevator.  We would be happy to highly recommend "Zum Hechten" – Altstadthotel. A small, family-run hotel in charming downtown Füssen

This is a great located hotel.  The staff responded promptly to all my inquiries prior to arrival.  They provided excellent directions to the parking.  However, be advised our Apple Maps and google maps failed to indicate a slight right turn from Kemptener Strasse to Ritterstrabe before a left turn onto Hintere Gasse.  There are some flowers there and it looks like you cannot turn and we missed the turn several times.  The staff are helpful and the breakfast was excellent.  Room was a good size with a terrace with table and chairs.  There was a small fridge but no safe.  A container of water was filled each day with daily maid service.  Breakfast is served each day from 07:00 to 10:30 and you will be asked what time you will partake.  Checkout is 10:30.  There is a a very good restaurant on site for lunch and dinner. The trout was excellent.

Great location

Friendly hotel in the centre of Fussen. The rooms are divided between two buildings, we stayed in the annex across the courtyard. Our room was a good size with modern fixtures and fittings and the balcony with a view of the castle was very welcome as a outdoor space. The restaurant serves typical Bavarian fare with substantial portions, however you can share a plate or request a smaller portion. The service was excellent and prompt. Fussen itself is a great base for walking, cycling and general sightseeing.

Excellent hotel, a great base for exploring the local area

The inn was exactly as described and seen in the photos. We stayed in a triple room in  the second building up one flight of stairs.  The room was spacious enough for 3 adults, had a balcony & a very nice shower.  Beds were comfortable.  Very clean.  Quiet neighborhood at night. Staff was helpful. we prepaid for parking. Breakfast was was delicious, fresh and plenty of food.  The restaurant was excellent and fairly priced.

Loved it!

This is a quaint hotel in a great location. You can walk to everywhere in this beautiful town from the front door.  There is parking in the rear.  The staff are very helpful and the extensive buffet breakfast is very good.  The restaurant located adjacent to the hotel (and part of the hotel) is excellent.  We were there with a large group (a boisterous hockey team playing in a nearby tournament) and they gave us a separate room at the back of the restaurant so as not to disrupt the other patrons.  The lone waiter went out of his way to keep the food and beer flowing. It is a highly recommended hotel - even with a hockey team on the premises!

Perfect Hotel for a Picturesque Town

This is our second visit to this lovely central hotel in the beautiful town of Fussen. It’s a clean and good quality hotel with decent sized rooms and friendly staff. The parking (for which you pay €7.50/day) is very convenient and many rooms have balconies for those summer months or in the winter for chilling those in room drinks. The on-site restaurant continues to be good with an excellent menu of local specialities. Beware the portions are enormous! The only shame was that it was closed on Christmas Eve pm.

A lovely Christmas choice

We stayed at this wonderful little hotel over the Christmas Holidays.  Walk out the front door on to cobbled streets. Hot wine kiosks along the streets.  Very good restruants on site or within walking distance. Nice shopping and a beautiful drive to Salzburg to the Christmas markets or to Rothenberg (a MUST!)

(avoid the “authentic Chinese” that you have to walk up a flight of stair to...scarey and food extremely greasy)

Magical Christmas location!

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Fussen! There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Nice clean hotel with onsite parking. Friendly staff that were very helpful in planning our castle visits.

Fantastic Location! Super Hotel!

Five minutes walk from the train/bus station, via the back entrance/exit. A minute from the main town square. Plenty of restaurants around, although the in-house restaurant was perfectly adequate. Counter staff very tall and friendly! We had a beautiful large room with balcony and mini fridge. Did not miss lack of air conditioning in a rainy period.  Lots of electric sockets but no built-in adapters. Toiletries came in fiddly paper packs - very difficult to open (least good part of stay). Free Wi-Fi not fast but adequate. No fresh hot food at breakfast but good selection of pastries, breads, fruit and cereals. Boiled and scrambled eggs. Average coffee delivered to table in nice ceramic jug.
