It's a very nice, pleasant guesthouse with breakfast to choose from, and we had a surprise in a nice, clean room with everything you need.

A pleasant stay

It's very lively, it's simple, but it's clean, it's right on the way to the store, it's safe to ride bicycles, it's a nice dining room, it's 150 metres away, breakfast is not a buffet, three to choose from, and no backpacks.

Cycling to Fulda

We stayed here for business two nights and are completely satisfied. The rooms are simple but good and clean. The breakfast was lavish and delicious for only two guests. Everything you need. Clean, cheap and quiet. You can't do anything wrong here. A good restaurant for the evening is right around the corner.

Nice accommodation

We had hoped for more and were ultimately disappointed because of the many good reviews. The good thing is that we were able to put the bikes in a closed garage. The room was very small, though we didn't put much value on evening TV, but this copy from an old time was too small (small picture, few transmitters, for that matter, pretty out of shape). The breakfast was disappointing. There's everything you need to start the day, but in a boarding house we expected much more.

Maybe we had too many expectations...

My wife and I like to stay in these little hotels where there is no hustle. But English is only for the wife. The rooms are in the second house, just outside the yard. It's like old old old old house, but the interior is perfectly modern. The room is small, but the interior is very cozy, in the middle of the street.

I enjoyed 2 warm, sunny days at Zur Alten Fuldaschleife in early June. Depending on GPS/Navigation to get me to the location, I drove past farm fields, wonderfully rolling hills and the Fulda River, from which the establishment gets its name to reach this small pension garni.
After being somewhat surprised that the pension was actually located in the tiny Guxhagen “suburb” of Büchenwarra, the establishment is located in 2 building. The front building is the reception and breakfast room which overlooks the river, and a rear building accessed by a driveway to the side, the rooms. My room was located on the second floor (1st floor to Europeans) and I believe several more were located on the third. I had reserved a single room through Booking.com and paid Euro 39, per night, plus Euro 6.50 for breakfast. While small, the room was perfectly adequate with a double bed, small table and chair, satellite TV and what looked like a recently renovated bathroom. Everything was spotless. The fully opening window allowed lots of light into the room and the location was very peaceful and quiet. If you enjoy hearing chickens in the distance (as I do) it was rural Germany at its best. 
The pension is operated by the owner and his wife who live on premises. Ample free parking is located in front of the main building on the street. Further down that street is access to extensive hiking and biking trails adjacent to the river. Guxhagen proper is about 10 minutes away. I learned the population of Büchenwarra is about 120, with a wonderful restaurant with adjacent meat market a short walk away. A bit farther away is a campground which also has a restaurant open to the public. It took about 40 minutes (by auto) to reach Kassel, the major north Hessen city located nearby.

Not Fancy, But Perfectly Fine

The price-performance ratio is very good. The guest house is close to Fulda and the A7 motorway we didn't hear. Our room was also out in the back where only a few chickens showed up. It's like a village. The breakfast was also very good and rich. The rooms were clean and pleasant. The owners are very nice and hospitable. We stayed there for three nights with breakfast and were very satisfied. If we come to this area again, we'll know where we're going.

The family-run and heartwarming guesthouse is ideal for travellers, just a few kilometres from the north-south axis (Guxhagen motorway exit), as well as for holidaymakers and families. If you want to enjoy a culinary experience, Langgasthof Hartung is recommended, at a distance of about 200 metres. The price/performance ratio is right in the guesthouse as well as in the country guesthouse.

Secret tip on the north/south axis

The boarding house is primarily for bikers, is located directly on the Fulda and has a good price-performance ratio. The reception was very friendly, the room was simple but very clean. The bathroom is completely adequate and the breakfast is much better than expected for the price.
