I chose this hotel because of its convenient location. Location couldn't be better and every other option around it was much more expensive. Of course, you get what you pay for. Room is very very basic and has not been renovated for a long time. It was clean though. Another problem is the high temperature in the room. You have to open the window, otherwise it's unbearably hot. It's definitely not a place for romance, but I was travelling solo in that case and location was more important than facilities and ambience.

It's all about location

A small restaurant in the pedestrian zone Collonaden. Very quiet. Very central. Ideal location. In comparison to the price the rooms are ok. Basic but functional. Water pressure could be higher. Soap is too little. But on the whole very ok! 

Excellent location 

The location is simply great, right by U1 Stephansplatz and two blocks away from the Alster and Planten und Bloomen garden! One can find restaurants and facilities within two blocks, it is most convenient!
The place is not a hotel, more like a pension or B&B but with NO breakfast (there are bakers' nearby anyway). Reception is only available from 8 in the mnorning till 8 in the evening; no idea what happens when one arrives or leaves outside those working hours...
Check-in is made at the front dest of Hotel Alameda, in the same building and through the same entrance. The receptionist is non-German and should perhaps be more welcoming; payment must be made in total and upfront. One is given a bundle of keys: one for the front door, one for the according floor and the red one for the room.
Rooms may vary in size and disposition, the 307 was pretty large but rather basic; bathroom is narrow and all you get is shampoo sachets, so bring your own stuff.
Wifi is weak, one must stay close to the door to have it working properly. The backside is really quiet, it faces a parking lot and an office building, a bit invasive.
If on a low budget and planning to spand really the whole day outdoors, coming back to the room only for sleeping, then mybe the place is for you; otherwise, please choose elsewhere, for it charges far too much for the next to nothing it offers!

It's a B of the B&B, so you pay much and get little, but it may suit budget travellers

It is falsely advertised. It is NOT a hotel but a Pension.
This is fraudulent activity.
The entire place stinks of cigarette smoke, the hotel owner/manager is rude and aggressive.
I booked through booking.com. When I turned up to find the place stinking of cigarette smoke, the room, tiny and filthy, I refused to stay there. The hotel owner refused to acknowledge what was evident before our eyes and nose and hid behind booking.com
I reported the matter to booking.com. There response was "tough luck, we do not care". Between them, booking.com and the hotel then misappropriated my money by claiming that I was a no-show.

False Advertising

This is a basic hotel, but really quite fine. The room itself was spacious and comfortable and cleaned every day by the staff. One of the great things about it is that it is on a pedestrianised street, so no traffic noise whatsoever. It really was one of the quietest rooms I've ever stayed in. If you want to talk to a receptionist outside of 8am - 8pm, it's true they are closed, but I generally don't and didn't here either so no problem. They were there when I needed anything. Very handy distance to the U1 and buses, just moments away. Should I go to Hamburg again,I'll probably book here.
