After booking and paying for this hotel, they informed us that they would not check us in past 10 pm. We requested to cancel because this would not work for us. They kept all the money and ignored all future correspondence, even when we suggested they keep the full money and we'll stay one day less. Do not make the mistake we did and book with them!

Avoid at all costs!

Great little place. I was apprehensive after reading online reviews but found not much wrong with this place.
Friendly & funny check-in by Abdul, well furnished room, clean, decent shower. 

I had a great night sleep and fab breakfast in one of the Turkish bakeries across the road. Would stay again.

They charged me after I cancel my booking and I never got my money back. It was supposed to be a free cancellation. I've sent more  than 10 emails to them, but never got a reply. Ridiculous. Never book at this hotel.

I had the Anton room on Steindamm, absolutely no complaints at all, very clean and modern. Check in went smoothly and the chap on the desk was quite friendly. The area is very close to train/bus stations, like any other large city,these areas are somewhat seedy,sex shops and the like. I didn’t feel threatened or unsafe at anytime,put in a positive light, the seediness reflects on the accommodation prices and the abundance of unpretentious and cheap eating places. Reality sometimes takes people by surprise.

Very good value 

Stayed here for 2 nights in December. When we turned up to the hotel reception which was placed in a cafe to check in everything seemed ok and was greeted by receptionist who was also very lovely. We were then taken to our room which was not situated near reception and in actual fact about a 5 minute walk from it to what looks like a block of apartments on top of 2 shops. When you walk in the smell of cigarette smoke and how dirty the entrance is is the first thing you notice. Our apartment was on the 5th floor up this spiralled staircase which was a very long way especially with luggage! Luckily we only had hand luggage because theirs no lifts and no ground floor rooms. The apartment itself was clean and tidy and the rooms were nice and had 2 toilets kitchen facilities and shower with 3 bedrooms. The location of the hotel is very rough as previous reviews state with people taking drugs and getting drunk on the doorstop of the apartment entrance often having to ask big groups of men stood there to move so you can get in. Also even on the 5th floor it was very loud outside also really bright and the curtains don’t block out any light. Their are 2 locked doors to even get into the apartment building so luckily people can’t just wonder in and out as they please. Also believe the room was cleaned whilst we were out and theirs no way to put a do not disturb sign on and nothing telling you of this anywhere which I didn’t like because theirs no safe in the hotel room to keep your belongings and who knows who is coming into the room. I personally wouldn’t stay their again and would not recommend it for families, elderly or disabled people. 

Ok but wouldn’t stay again. 

We arrived at the reception for the check in, they gave us the keys, and told us our room is actually in another building, three streets away from the reception. We get there, in this dirty room, and after 10 minutes (when I’m already in my pyjamas and my boyfriend in the shower) a guy knocks at the door and tells us to pack our bags and leave the room because that was not our room. Apparently, they gave us the wrong room. I pack my bags again, walk to the other building in the rain, and when I get to the reception, instead of an apology, I am asked to pay €10 extra for an extra person even though the reservation was made for 2 people. I was wondering why, when we checked in the first time, they didn’t ask us to pay anything extra. I pay the €10, get into the other room. The carpet was super dirty, full of dust and hair. The place was super noisy, even at night. No value for money, and the personal wasn’t nice at all. I don’t recommend. One star is too much for them.

Stay away from this hotel

We thought this would be ok to stay a for a few hours before catching a bus trip back to Denmark.  The location is not the best (close to the train station/bus station), but its ok.  The nature of the hotel itself tends to lend itself to a younger crowd, and not conducive to a good night's rest.  The noise outside on the street is such that you cannot open a window, so bring earplugs to block the noise.  The building that we stayed in is not close to the building where you check in, so be advised of that.  I would not recommend if you are a traveling family.  If you are young and single and more used to the hostel lifestyle then maybe this place is for you.

Hotel itself not so bad....location and atmosphere not so good

I read a lot of reviews that this hotel is very bad and we should stay away from but actually the hotel is very clean and I was surprised that everything went well. The hotel is located in a lively area with shops and restaurants. So if you are looking for a quiet area, this hotel is not your choice. If you are looking for a hotel near the Train Station (5 min on foot), then this is the hotel.
The hotel is very clean and the service is good and check in went smoothly (check in a sister hotel/3 min away).
Money wise, hamburg is very expensive. So do expect to pay a lot if you are visiting the city in high season.

This place is more of a halfway house than a hotel. Located in an area full criminals and drug dealers, the room is in a different building to that which was advertised. The building was filthy, cluttered with junk and smelt like soiled laundry. There are no lifts, just a creaky staircase.
The service refused to put us in a groundfloor room or refund my
money. 

AVOID AT ALL COSTS 

Located in a poor area of Hamburg with sex workers and druggies on the street. It is about 5 minutes walk from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof.   Reception is located in the café area of the hotel with signage not particularly good. Check in within the stated times was efficient with no problems. The lift to the rooms was somewhat old and slow. We decided to take the stairs which were a little grubby and needed a good clean. In the room we found comfortable beds and a decent night sleep was had. The room itself was clean and quite well decorated, named Andreas,  although strangely did not contain a wardrobe or a rail to hang clothes. The shower was a little grubby and the shower doors did not shut at all well. Definitely in need of some ‘tlc’ although if the café area is anything to go by this may well be in the pipeline. Relatively cheap and cheerful is the best summation and it is doubtful we will pay a repeat visit in its current state.
