To be beautiful here again and again, great and well-groomed ambience both inside and in the garden, we feel very well! Good and grounded Westphalian cuisine. Whether it's slices, steaks, asparagus or geese, it's always tasted good! Keep it up, you're doing a good job!

It's a good place to stay.

We were here for the first time yesterday, and certainly not the last time, from the service to the food to the ambience, just great, and we'll definitely see each other again soon, a little out of sight, but no problem with Navi.

We were here with the family. Very generous rooms in a cozy ambience. The food was always very good. Both qualitatively and handcraftedly well made. Can't quite understand the negative rating. The service is also very good. All in all, highly recommended.:-) Come back!

Cozy atmosphere and very good food

Last Saturday we were at the Hackstake in Hattingen for the second time and we were just as excited as the first time. How beautiful the outdoors are decorated before Christmas, it's really breathtaking. But even in the restaurant everything is so lovingly decorated. The staff is really great, fast super friendly and always very important: humorous. We were there for a wild buffet, and although I'm not a wild fan, I've found enough choices for myself.

Always an experience

The food, steak and dessert, was very tasty. There is a point of discount, as the voucher was gone and our main course was served after about an hour. The staff was friendly, but some seemed a little overcooked. This was probably due to the fact that almost every table was occupied. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

Good food at fair prices

We loved this restaurant. We celebrated our son's confirmation there in 2018, which was great!!! For whatever reason, it wasn't good now. It tasted bland and unroasted. It was irrelevant and not why you should come back. The service was very friendly and effortful!

Unexpectedly Disappointed

How I would like to write an enthusiastic review...because it was our wedding party in a very small circle! With a very friendly lady discussed in great detail, I felt well advised. One day before I called again to see if everything was okay--after all, it was supposed to be a Highlight. After the wedding we were at the table at 12:25 and nothing happened at first. Then it went very slowly. The absolute disappointment was the main thing: instead of an asparagus Mediterranean vegetable dessert--well noted without a hint, apology or explanation!!! On a day like this you don't want to complain, so just point it out.

What a disappointment!

This was my fourth and last visit to this ‘renowned’ local. The first was several years ago for waffles and strawberry rhubarb jam. Delightful! Then my partner gave me a weekend special with overnight and delicious menu. Very good and relaxing.

Then my partner and her twin sister asked whether we, immediate family, about ten, could celebrate their mother’s 90th birthday with some simple sandwiches and cake and coffee. “No, if you want sandwiches, then you must order our Bergische Kaffeetafel!” This would be twice as much food than required or wanted but they (Hackstuek’s management), offered no ‘light’ version table offering so we went elsewhere...

To yesterday’s disaster and reason for my grave warning here: my sister-in-law got married and she wanted to offer something special for her new husband, sister and me. She booked a garden table for four and was suggested by the manager (I would like to name her but despite my fury do not), to order their Menu Karussell (05.15.-06.30.20) for €55 /plate. This we had. Please note that the day before my sister-in-law phoned Hackstück to ask if all was ready and assured that yes, all was arranged.

The Carpaccio was great, the asparagus tip soup tasted very good but there was no asparagus tip to be found (if purée then please state it so), and -here my major complaint- for the main entry the women had fish and the men, steak. Both were stated to have asparagus and small potatoes, gratin or panned, as vegetable. We all were happily anticipating first-class asparagus and were served sautéed peppers! My steak was medium rare, the groom‘s, medium. These were misplaced when served. There was no mention or apology about missing asparagus at all. 

As we were under a tight time schedule, it was either take it or leave it and I ask for understanding when I say that I kept my cool due to the truly special occasion. As is we spent 3 1/2 hours there in lovely surroundings but some of the poorest service I have ever had. I could add details (e.g., I went indoors in order to find our waiter and order drinks after ten minutes waiting - despite only about twenty other luncheon guests who all received more attention and faster service), but underscore this insulting situation by presenting that no manager came and apologized, least explain why we were served sautéed bell peppers in lieu of asparagus in asparagus season. When the waiter asked how we enjoyed our meal, our host presented her dismay to with our waiter presented two bottles of sparkling wine and said the three espressi (which arrived five minutes before our desert), were on the house.

For what it is worth, only I enjoy an alcoholic beverage and none of us four like bell peppers aside from occasionally fresh in salads.

The desert was very good too.

The poor management almost ruined our day, 30 hours later I am still livid. Never again here!

Hochzeitsessen 

Yesterday we were at the Hack's restaurant in Hattingen for the first time. Our friends were so excited that we wanted to check it out. The entrance area was already a highlight. Once you enter the Hack, you're immediately greeted and led to the table, which is also better due to the spaciousness of the restaurant. We got a great seating area for the four of us, which we were very pleased with. You have a lot of space in the Hack, and you can have a good time. The food was easy. Sour fries, perfect, or fish pudding, everything was great. The waiter was very attentive and joked with every joke. In this time of the year, we were very excited and we're going to come back. For one night, maybe even thanks for the night.

Have a lovely evening

With great expectation, we came to this restaurant with eight people. Unfortunately, it did not meet them. We had to decide beforehand whether we wanted to eat goose. Given the size of the restaurant, this made us unfamiliar. The food came within a short time, almost before the drinks. It was a quick mass preparation, by no means a nice evening. One of the chefs served us at the beginning, he doesn't seem to like guests. Eight people won't come back.
