Nice place to stay. Clean and well equipped rooms. Has its own parking place. Close to city center. Friendly and ready help personnel. Only negative thing is the variety of choices for breakfast and lack of warm food. Would recommend this hotel for a short business trip. 

Nice place

Hotel Aurach Garni is a very basic, efficient hotel. It's location in the  city center allows for guests to walk/bike to nearby shops & restaurants. The hotel offers parking for guests, an ample breakfast and wifi (intermittent at times). However, as I was traveling for business this hotel did fulfill the main need of location. The staff is friendly and assist as much as possible for those of us who don't speak the language. I should also mention it is a very clean property. Overall very pleasant stay which provided a taste of the local region.

Also for business travelers they accept Amex and accommodate after hour check in.

Quaint, local & efficient

If you expect 5-star service, then go elsewhere. Hotel Aurach Garni has its limits, but the family running it helped us as much as they could.

First, the trip from this hotel to adidas World of Sport/HQ is a 10€ taxi. :) Of course, I don't blame the hotel for this, but I wanted to correct another review.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Aurach Garni while I did one day of work with adidas HQ. Typically, my wife has to leave the room at 12:00 and hang out in the lobby until the end of my work day. Unfortunately, she couldn't do that at Hotel Aurach Garni, because the family running it doesn't (and can't!) sit at the reception desk all day.

This presented a problem for us. Doubly so, since I speak only fairly rudimentary German.

Fortunately, we could extend the stay by one night, leave the room at 18:00, leave the key at the reception desk, and all went well. Although not ideal, it worked out well enough for us, and I felt good negotiating the agreement auf Deutsch. :)

The hotel offers wifi service, although if you connect by ethernet/LAN cable, you'll experience higher speeds. You need to get codes from the front desk, so get enough for each day.

We really enjoyed the breakfast. Cold meat, cheese, tomatoes, leberwurst, and a fully-automatic espresso machine that made quite good cappuccino! We also appreciated the price for breakfast: 7€ per person, which is a true bargain compared to the typical hotel.

We found the room simple, clean, functional, and well-stocked. Although the nearby grocery store is a Norma (take cash), we also found great little food kiosks along the street. We didn't even bother with a restaurant, opting for döner instead. (How German!)

If you find yourself in Herzo, and you want a nice experience at a good price (164€ for two nights and one morning of breakfast for two people), then you can't go wrong with Hotel Aurach Garni.

Within its limits, this hotel and its staff do a fantastic job!

Stayed a few times there. Good service, location, no problems whatsoever, apart from no wireless.
Had to purchase a wlan access point to use my mac (which has no LAN port)!
