Had a twin room for one night on a trip to watch football. Beds was comfy enough, lots of brown wood. Bathroom was small, shower had decent pressure. Towels s bit in the small side. Good breakfast and friendly staff.

The restaurant was excellent, hearty local fare, I assume, as haven’t really seen it elsewhere. I had a pork steak stuffed with ham and cheese and a couple of beers. My mate had a Turkey version stuff with sun dried tomatoes. Really set us up for the evening.

Bus stop right outside so getting to town is easy, regular bus service. Hike to Napoleonstein is just outside too. 30 minutes hike, route I took was steep enough, views were great of Jena which is nestled in the valley underneath.

Quality German guesthouse brewery

Traditional Restaurant with brewary, large rooms and garden Restaurant. Local, regional food with blond and dark beer. Very friendly staff, famose atmosphere and good prices. Recommendation: Thüringer Rostbrätel, Thüringer Klößen with Roulade.

Old Traditional Restaurant and Hotel 

The restaurant is providing self brewed beer delivered by the attached brewery. Furthermore they are offering extraordinary dishes you don't find in many restaurants. The quality of food (fish and baked cheese) is great as well the beer is very, very tasty.
For us - used to pay "Munich style prices" - the pricing looks extremely cheap. The environment is nice including a beergarden outside. If I could rate 6 stars I would do. Very strongly recommended !

Great food and beer, nice environment 

The building housing overnight guests stands apart from the main building where the reception is located. Parking was in front of the guest building, easy access to the room with our bags. The room itself had a distinctly 'old time look', perhaps quite deliberate. The en suite bathroom facilities were up-to-date which was a nice contrast. Jena is an historic place, of particular Interest to those who study Napoleonic history. Unfortunately the weather  was not inviting enough for us to pursue this line of investigation of the surroundings, nor could we take advantage of the attractively located beer garden. The breakfast was sufficient but not lavish. A good stay if you are passing through Jena, in good weather you could take advantage of walks and then spend another night at this 'Braugasthof'.

Clean room with the feel of yesteryear

We stayed one night.  
Our room was very comfortable and well appointed.  Despite being close to the road there was not much traffic noise and our sleep was not disturbed.  The bed was comfortable.
The hotel has a brewery which produces 5 kinds of beer; all worth trying; and if you do you will sleep well.  Local spirits are also available.
The restaurant serves a traditional German Menu.
There is seating outside the bar/restaurant and the general appearance is clean and pleasing to the eye, with attractive gardens.
Free parking on site is available.
It would be useful to speak a bit of German, as not all the staff can speak English.
As a base for walking or cycling it would be very good, as the area is pleasant and the trails are well marked.
The Napoleon Stone, marking where Napoleon surveyed the battlefield of Jena in 1806 is a 45 minute walk away initially up a steep hill (and 35 back downhill !), but an ideal place to visit to work up an appetite for the breakfast which is buffet style and quite sufficient.

A very pleasant hotel with it's own brewery.

The beer is really good. The best beer brewed in Jena and surrounding that i could try so far. 
The food was a really nice surprise. The choice on the menu is not huge but the quality of the food offered is more than satisfying. 
Definitely deserves a visit.
