If you want a large generic hotel in the center of town, this is not for you. If you want a small, modern, family-run hotel with a lot of character, this is for you. There is a French-themed restaurant on site and the building formerly was a warehouse. Location is walkable from the Durlach station. Very friendly owners. Excellent breakfast. Besides the on site restaurant, there are several others nearby.

Beautiful small hotel

This is a small hotel with beautifully appointed rooms, with character and a good change from the mass-standardised hotel chains. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable with an excellent bathroom, neatly combining modern comfort with a traditional feel. The breakfast room (in the restaurant, which I truly felt sorry for not having the chance to try) is also amazing, and what a pleasure to arrive for breakfast and your table set already with freshly squeezed orange juice, bread, jams, cold cuts, cheese, yoghurts, cereals, fruit, cake, etc. and eggs upon order and freshly brewed coffee. Will certainly come back for business and holidays alike!

Amazing with character

A beautiful hotel. The rooms are named after French wine regions.  I had Burgundy, on the 4th floor (walkup).  It was nicely appointed and comfortable.  I had a shower and small tub, writing desk and 3 Windows which opened.  

I never did figure out the climate control, but I'm sure had I asked, that would have been worked out 

Breakfast was table-served.  Eggs-to-order, fresh orange juice, a selection of breads, jams and yogurts, as well as a small meat and cheese board and bowl of muesli each morning.  Wonderful coffee.

Rooms are appointed differently, as I had a closet, my colleague had a coatrack and hangers.  I had a shower, she had a tub with handheld sprayer.  I had a sitting area, where she did not.  Room rates were the same.

We had a lovely 3 night stay, including brealfast, for 330 euros.

Try the bitter orange marmalade at breakfast

We arrived in Germany with my husbands parents and friends of ours who had their wedding supper here 30 years ago recommended we stay at this lovely hotel.  The food was very delicious and the service was exceptional!  The Familie Jollit own a superb hotel and restaurant!  They are very friendly people and speak excellent English.  We felt very pampered and well taken care of during our stay.  The breakfast is a wide variety of perfectly prepared and served items, I would  highly recommend this hotel and restaurant!!!

The Best!!!!

A really lovely hotel and restaurant in a quiet village. It has big rooms with lovely balconies and the food was delicious.
Breakfast was particularly good with smoked salmon as well as the usual European selection of meats and cheeses.
Great wifi access too.

A taste of Bavaria

As a night-stop en route, this family-run hotel came as a nice surprise, located in suburban Karlsruhe. It looked small and homely online, but in fact was rather in the grand manner. Our room was at the top, up three flights of steep narrow stairs - a bit hard for elderly and infirm guests: we made it - panting! The rooms are named after wines - ours was 'Bourgogne',  spacious and comfortable with furnishings in the style of yesteryear, a comfortable bed with drapes making it seem like a four-poster, a huge TV and beams galore. The bathroom was majestic in style and fitted with every convenience and very nice toiletries.  Some lightbulbs were missing and only one bedside light worked...The place was being restored, rooms  and corridors on the lower floors were closed off, and there was builders' clutter and dust in evidence. The works are due to be complete in May 2016.  This may be why the WiFi did not work at all. Breakfast was served in the main restaurant, and was opulent - table set with more than enough for two - breads, meats, cheeses, fresh-squeezed juice, cereals, jams etc. Coffee on demand. Then came the offer of eggs... then came little dishes of creme caramel ... then came hot croissants... and still we were asked if we would like more. Not cheap, but a real change from those square bland chain hotels! The restaurant serves real fine dining, cooked by Madame - delicious and with a huge range of dishes, but at a fine price.
