Fantastic old timer athmospere. Lovely hiking in the surroundings and a fantastic restaurant. 
Breakfast menu has variety and high quality options. In the night the restaurant is so cozy and with high-kitchen options. There are hiking routes nearby

Sehr ruhig und tolles

I discovered Das Marienhoh on line. I wanted a place to escape to with my love for 5 days of relaxation. Marienhoh is in a small village surrounded by fields and forests of the national park Hunsruck. It is also on Germany`s Gemstone Road. Close by you have beautiful old romantic towns, good little restaurants and great cake shops - conditorei!
We were upgraded to a Loft room which was on two levels, well insulated - never heard the neighbours. The bedroom is upstairs with a modern bathroom and a free standing bath tub just big enough for 2. A comprehensive breakfast buffet is offered. At 3 pm a cake buffet is offered. One has the choice of dining at 6pm or 8 pm. And in between a cheese buffet is offered at 7pm. Indoor swimming pool and spa facilities are all modern. Great massage from Susanna! We enjoyed every minute and definitely would recommend the hotel. 

Delightfully surprised!

We stayed unfortunately only for one night but hopefully can return again soon. For starters the area has so much to offer, there is lots to see and do with wonderful walks, wildlife park, interesting towns and villages as well as the beautiful Mosel and Nahe rivers close by and the Hunsruck region is one of Germany's hidden gems. That is before we even start with this beautiful hotel, from the moment we walked in we were greeted with a warm friendly reception. The room was clean, elegant, comfortable and perfect for what we needed. The hotel has many facilities including swimming pool, Sauna and various spa facilities (included in the room was a spabag with towels, bathrobes and slippers) and also a nice touch of a bar/snack bar for both spa and non spa users which we used for pre-dinner drinks. We also ate at the hotel, we went for the 3 course set menu of which there were two choices and the food was excellent.
Breakfast was just as good with a superb choice, meats cheeses, fish, fresh fruit and hot breakfast choices were all on offer and a really nice touch was an information sheet left on the breakfast table with the days weather and ideas for trips out. The service throughout from reception, bar, restaurant and breakfast was excellent. Certainly worth a visit.

Wonderful stay

Great, quiet location with many good walking tours around. Probably also nice biking tours in the warmer months. Lovely but at times very busy pool and sauna area. Mostly friendly staff, especially at the restaurant. Very good food, amazing opportunities/play rooms to keep the kids busy! A bit pricey though if you must pay for an entire separate room for the kids…

Great with kids but pricey

We spent a wonderful stay with my daughter! Beautiful in every details! Really great for a stay with children. Pool is beautiful such as the surroundings. Great attention to details. Wonderful that you can use mountain bikes free of charge! Will be back for sure!

Wonderful stay!

Travelling with two children can be difficult, but Klosterhotel Marienhöh is an excellent destination if you want to get away from the routine for a short break. We stayed for three nights and the children really liked it. As parents we spotted some shortcomings, such as the broken stuff in the sports hall, service for dinner or lunch not being entirely satisfactory, or meals that were a little too salty for out taste. However, overall we had a pleasant stay and will probably return.

A nice family break.

The pool and spa area were great and we made full use of them during our short stay.  16:00 is however too early to close the pool to kids at what is marketed as a family hotel.  Many families want a quick dip after a day out. 17:30 would be more acceptable. 
The bar area was a bit dated and nothing special. Dinner was a real highlight  though - the food was lovely and the service great. Breakfast was also very enjoyable and service was good. 
The main disappointment of our trip was however our room. We had the basic comfort room but didn’t expect it to be that basic for the price. It served its purpose but it wasn’t somewhere we wanted to spend anymore time in than necessary. 
All in all we had a nice time but definitely felt we had paid too much for it. We have had better value for money at other hotels.

A nice break: Lovely pool but room disappointing

Lovely location, calm and tranquil, beautiful surroundings, but the hotel in itself is not that special and is über exaggerated in terms of price. 

We paid €160 for a basic room, which did not include breakfast (that’s an additional €20pp). 

This price also allowed spa entrance from 16:00 on the day of arrival, and between 10:00-12:00 on day of check out. If you want to arrive/stay on longer, it’s an extra €20pp, per day.

Dinner was booked for 20:00, so we did not really have a lot of pamper time, although the pool and steam room were both wonderful; a short, but relaxing experience and this was the main purpose of our visit. 

On top of that, unfortunately we had a dreadful night’s sleep: the room was too hot, the bedding too heavy, we had the window open all night and no bedcovers on us.

Dinner was mixed:one of us loved the choices made, the other less so. Wine was good and the service excellent.

In short, however, we feel that we paid far too much for a pretty unimpressive stay.

Disappointing & overpriced

The area is very beautiful, you can take nice walks right from the hotel. It is family friendly with services (kids club) and good options for kids ( special chairs, play areas). It can still improve on baby services like creating opportunities and places in the dining area for them to be fed/darker corners/opportunities to lay them in a bed or on a cosy place next to parents. There is a menu option for vegetarians available. The dinner was good with yet quite small portions. Breakfast was really good. 
The hotel is very clean, staff is friendly and it was possible to keep the room a bit longer to have a relaxed check out. 

We selected this hotel because of its family friendliness. I believe it is more appropriate for families with kids than babys. I though would have expected more for the price.

Location is great, baby options can still be improved

We used a Wellness weekend coupon. The room was average with a heavy, winter comforter - too hot for sleeping. Our dinner was excellent while service extremly poor. Table set for two courses. Courses came very slow and third course came without utensils. Had to chase down a server to get utensils. With meal service so slow we deciede to take expresso in bar, however, finding no one to serve us in the bar we gave up. At breakfast we ordered an omelete and pancakes, ,after waiting forever, asked what  happened. After a bit the omelete and pancakes showed up with an appology. 

Very poor service. Personnel disorganzed and not trained
