Friendly  helpful staff.  I dont speak German and they didnt speak English but they did their best to understand me and even printed a translation of the menu specially for me.  Perhaps they could do some translations of the menu and hotel information for travellers from othe rcountries.  For example I didnt know about the Sauna until I got back to England.

Our rooms were a bit on the small side but reasonably appointed for the price, space to hang things up, clean towels provided and plenty of hot water in bathroom for shower.  Some tea/coffee making facilities would move it up a notch.  There was some noise from road and railway station which meant keeping bedroom window closed on hot night.

Easy ten minute walk from the shops bars and restaurants in the older picturesque parts of Limburg.  Especially if you dont want to eat in the hotels restaurant which provides good value hearty fare but I wasnt too keen on the frozen veg.

Good value hotel well placed for overnight stop

We stayed overnight in May to break a car journey between Austria and the UK. This hotel is old and without modernisation. My bedroom had a terribly stained carpet, the litter bin in the shower room was full from previous occupants and the shower cubicle had a half empty mini shampoo. 

For access to and from Limburg station this hotel is very well located, as the name implies. For those wishing to visit the charming old town for dinner, our short walk required a trip through a long underpass followed by crossing a large square complete with fountain populated by those who like to drink their strong cider al fresco. This made for an even more interesting return journey.

A Poor Choice

Arrived at 9pm after my flight was delayed to find the hotel was shut. No answer when tried to call but eventually door was opened after lots of banging on door - not a good start!

The room was very basic, dirty and too dark to read in. It was also very very noisy (hotel across the road from the train line). 

No hot food for breakfast and the boiled eggs were old.

Wouldn't recommend - I have given it two stars because it isn't the worst hotel in Limburg but I would use it as a very last resort.

 Very basic and very noisy

The only positive comment I can make is that the lady that greeted us at reception was very pleasant. Initially when we arrived it was difficult to find the front door which was down an alley and at the back of the hotel. I resorted to calling the hotel to ask reception where I could find the front door! The room was a time warp back to 1970 which was the last time the three panel sliding door in the shower worked. The shower mixer tap was almost impossible to operate and the cleanliness of the shower and general bathroom were very dubious to say the least. The room itself was no more than 4 sq m and there was little  room for our luggage. The room smelt like stale cigarette smoke even though the room was sold as non-smoking. The room was booked as a standard double room and it consisted of two completely separate small single beds pushed together.  Each single bed had a bed end and for me at 6 foot 4 inches it was literally a night mare. The room we had was room 32 and overlooked the main road in Limburg an der Lahn and I reckon every truck that came into Limburg an der Lahn throughout the night went via our room and each driver wound down their window to say hello. The room rate was 75€ per night and the owners should hang their heads in shame because the room was sub-standard. The room was not worth more that 30€ and breakfast at 7€ per head was not value for money. It was a continental breakfast and I would recommend that you give it a miss. We were also required to pay our bill on arrival so you had to make the decision about breakfast on the spot. All in all this hotel is in my opinion in extremely poor condition and should be avoided at all costs.
