Little nice hotel with really friendly staff. There where some problems understanding where to park our car. But when we arrived there was no problem parking the car inside the hotel area. Nice location in the heart of the city. Good breakfast. The day after we parked in karstad parkhouse, so we could enjoy this wonderfull city for a few more hours. 

Good hotel with nice location

We were in one of the renovated rooms, and we felt very comfortable. The room was big enough, the bathroom was big enough, it was super quiet at night. The breakfast was good and generous. The man in charge there, I think he's so responsible for pretty much everything, he's spoiling the store, he's super friendly and extremely helpful. We feel the price-performance ratio is good and we would recommend the hotel further.

Renovated rooms

Charming old hotel, perfectly centrally placed. Nice sized room and bathroom, good breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Beds however quite hard and there was not really sufficiently hot water for the shower. Also strange that they did not accept credit cards.

Stop-over

Very spontaneously we decided to pull off to Lüneburg. And very spontaneously we landed straight at the Hotel Scheffler. We had good luck. Great location in the middle of the city. Great flair in and around the hotel. Very nice reception - good luck also with the parking space (we were already afraid that we would have to park the car outside) - which hotel in such a location (Old Town) already has parking spaces - beautiful, renovated rooms with a clean bathroom and quietness in front of the window - the breakfast buffet is set up richly and appealingly. We spontaneously (again) extended a night.

In the middle of Lüneburg

This hotel is not up to date as far as I'm concerned - especially not at this price. We had a small room with NO shower and NO toilet. We had to visit this one overnight in the hallway. This was a step before the bath where you would particularly painfully push your feet. The room was very bright, we were allowed to listen to the TV program of the roommates acoustically until late into the night. No safe, no minibar, no water cup to even get a bathroom together. The latter is already very annoying, as the hotel is no longer occupied during the day and the premises as well as the breakfast rooms are very relaxing but the premises are very relaxing after the premises are closed for good breakfast. The premises were closed until late into the night, and we could not even stop at the hotel after 18 hours, because we could not afford to stop at the parking lot and then stop at the hotel, because we would not want to park our cars at the time of the day.

Not up to date

When we arrived, we were greeted with kindness. But then the deep shock: wet air in a tiny gap. Large people drop the ceiling on their heads and they have little space on the pot. Spider webs, so we couldn't live with them! Comfortable beds, quiet and centrally located, that gave us a restful sleep. At breakfast buffet everything, but unfortunately the uniform bread: old fruit salad, cold rice, what's the man to eat?! Love Scheffler Garnibes: please refurbish the rooms, otherwise we'll never come!

Central, but the rooms a torment

We chose the hotel because it is super centrally located. It was a very pleasant stay and there was a delicious breakfast. Very nice atmosphere and very friendly guided tour there. We felt comfortable. Despite being in the middle of the city, very quiet.

Fantag red roses

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is a lovely, with all sorts of nooks and crannies, lots of wood and some quirky decor. What was a delight  was to step out of the hotel on the Saturday morning and discover that it is close to a very pretty town square where a local produce market was in full swing. The hotel is in a very attractive location, and the old part of Luneburg is a pleasure to visit. Breakfast had enough and sufficient variety. We had a room that was on the top floor in the building that is parallel to the older part. The downside of the hotel: if you are travelling with a big suitcase, reaching your room is an endurance test. We were on the top floor and had to go up windy flights of stairs, and the second one was so narrow it was quite hard to lug the suitcase up.

Charming setting.

The reception was very good - the staff were exceptionally hospitable and friendly, we must really mention this with praise, but the breakfast was left to be desired. We did not like the fact that in the event of a sudden departure (for example, due to family emergencies) we could no longer leave in the evening or at night, because the gate to the hotel yard was closed because there was no night porter.

We were very disappointed.

Myself and a work colleague stayed 2 nights (with breakfast) at "Hotel Scheffler Garni" in the Altstadt of Luneburg in July 2017.  We had a standard single room (Room 5 at €73 a night) and a superior single room (Room 19 at €80 a night), rates include breakfast.  My room (Room 5) had a separate en-suite bathroom, whereas the superior room very oddly had a shower in the actual room next to the bed!?  The lighting in my room was quite poor, not really bright enough to read a book by, and my bed was not that comfortable.  Also the free internet would not work in my room, but it did work in the hotel dining room. The hotel breakfast was a continental buffet style and was of a very high quality and plentiful.  The location of the hotel is very good being just a minute or two walk from the old town hall, market square, main shops and bars and restaurants.  There is space for a couple of cars in the hotel courtyard but it is very limited and for the two nights we were there we had to park in a nearby parking garage at a rate of about €15 a day.  All in all the hotel offers accommodation in the centre of a lovely old town that's a fine example of a Lower Saxony German town at a reasonable rate, but honestly the standard and comfort of our rooms was just average compared to those in the other hotels I regularly stay in on my extensive travels.
