We go there at least once a year on our wedding day. This time there were three different meals, one for breakfast, two main dishes that weren't really to be enjoyed. The staff said to my question about the quality and whether the chef changed, which is a year ago. It was so disappointing that after five years we'll be looking for another restaurant.

Lack of food

I've always been very satisfied with the good-natured kitchen. I think the owner has changed. The food is fine and the service is totally unfriendly. When we criticized the food, we were told that we didn't need to come anymore.

No further visits

Not a second time at all. We were deceived by the many visitors. A 300 gram steak was just 150 grams. After my complaint (because the table-side had a 300 gram steak) I was told that this was the kitchen's decision. Absolutely unprofessional and then I'd rather go around the corner to Maredo

Food

Spatchle was rather tasteless and not homemade, the sauce was a fixed product. The portions are plentiful, I ate another full serving the next day. The meat was well roasted, the fries too. Priced absolutely ok. We came here because we lack a good, well-bourgeois restaurant that you can steer at any time if you feel like it. Unfortunately, that won't happen. Service was a little overwhelmed with the full restaurant (two people), which made itself noticeable. Nonetheless, friendly.

Okay, but it doesn't have to be again.

Spatsels were tasteless and partly cold. The Schnitzel was buried under tons of finished sauce from the packaging, including a few hidden mushrooms on the can. The only thing to enjoy was the beer, because it didn't come from your own kitchen. Added to that were greasy fingerprints on the plate from the service. Whoever likes it there has never eaten well. The only way to counter the suggestion that the food is inedible was to say that it seems to taste to the other guests and you can't do anything about it. You can't rush to the streets for hours. Add to that you can kiss your neighbors on the side table and listen to each other's conversations because the tables are close to our beds and we're all just standing in the way.

Horrible food and unfriendly staff

 A colleague of mine and I wanted to find some authentic German food and wow were we impressed
Great place..outdoor seating..arrive early or wait. The Spaetzle was out of this world awesome and the grilled schnitzel was incredible. 

Wow what a treat

The location is perfectly in the city center, the place is an old German shop, with still the original wood structure, very nice. Good and friendly service, the Greek owner can give you a warm welcome. The food is nothing special, typical German, but big portions. It’s possible to order vegetarian as well. Prices on the average. 

Nothing special, but ok

I went to the Alter Simple with colleagues. I don't even want to comment about the food. The service was unacceptable. One of the waiters was completely drunk and the other one overloaded. Whe came the moment to pay I gave 31 euros cash (the bill was 26) to the waiter and he refused to give me back 5 euro. He started complaining and saying that he deserved a tip and he left without giving back the money. Is that acceptable? 

Tourist trap

Previously - I was here about six months ago - it was really good! Price: reasonable. Now - well... the service - nice and nice - but also h superficial. Location u cleanliness - ok. Food unacceptable - my potatoes - dry - partially spiced - my cut - weak - heated!? Shame. Admittedly - our food was probably the last order of the day! Nevertheless - it must go better.

...unfortunately by the way...

When my partner and I were there it was a pure disaster... the tables are so close together that you sit with your neighbor, you have no privacy at all. Based on the reviews, I thought the food should be great, cake! We had a beef roll with spatula and red cabbage, my partner the steak roll. You could still eat but not the hit, spatula matching and lasch, red cabbage not even spiced, even my sitz barmaid could confirm it.
