Very nice and clean accomodation near the city center.

Special shoutout to the awesome and uncomplicated hosts who let me use the common area post checkout to wait for my girlfriend. Even offered me a coffee on the house.

Would definitely stay again

I stayed here for five nights a couple of weeks ago whilst on a motoring trip during which I attended the Oldtimer historic race meeting at the nearby Nurburgring. The location of Mayen and this hotel was very convenient for the Nurburgring being just a 30 minute drive away.
Overall I very much enjoyed my stay at this establishment. It offered very good value for the single room which I occupied  but you should be aware of some aspects of the place. There are no permanent or front desk staff. When I first arrived I had a bit of a problem even finding out how to get in. The main entrance is in a nice little courtyard accessible from the side street. There is a keysafe box on the wall by the main door. I had to use my mobile phone to call the owner and once I'd made contact it was a straightforward job to get the key and find my room. It might have been better had this arrangement been notified prior to arrival. If you are driving here there is a small amount of parking space in the courtyard area and it appeared that there was free parking on the adjacent side streets.
For my first night I was allocated a double room but I had been asked to move to a single room the following day. This really wasn't a problem and the second room was completely adequate for the rest of my stay. There was a very comfortable bed and a reasonably sized bathroom which had a good shower. Everything was spotlessly clean.
It was nice to meet the proprietor of the hotel, Angelika, at breakfast and throughout my stay she made me feel very welcome and was helpful and chatty. Her near perfect English was certainly better than my near non-existent German!  The buffet breakfast choice was good with a variety of breads and a small choice of hot items. As I was attending the races at the Nurburgring it was good to be able to get breakfast at 7.30AM and still be at the track an hour later.
As mentioned above there are no services provided at the hotel in the evenings but the town centre is less than ten minutes walk away and there is quite a good range of shops and services available there. Overall I would rate this place as a good budget range hotel.

A good budget class stay

Our room was clean and comfortable. We had our own little balcony. We were overlooking the inner courtyard through which you come in. It's weird helping yourself to your own key but it worked. The bathroom was palatial and the shower was good. Plain and simple decor upstairs gave way to german kitsch in the breakfast room. It is extremely convenient (7 mins) walk to town centre but, despite being an a main road out of town it is quiet. Schloss Burresheim is 4km to the north and half an hour to the south is the Mosel, Cochem and Burg Eltz

An unusual place

Pros:
- favourable location (very close to the center, some 10 minutes on foot)
- clean and spacious bathrooms 
- kind staff (even prepared us take-away breakfast on our last day when we had to leave before they served breakfast)
- good breakfast (continental buffet)
- fast & free wifi

Cons:
- homepage is not sufficient, better email them for update infos
- English is not/very poorly spoken by the staff
- no restaurant in the hotel
- rooms are very different in size and style but are for the same price
- parking place is limited (in the very small courtyard or somewhere in the streets)

Weird things:
- strange check-in method (should you arrive in the afternoon, you'll find your key in a box on the wall. Should you have problems with this, better to have your cellphone with you)
- at first I was given a room which was not according to my taste but I considered it okay for the time to be spent there. Then a staff member offered another room (which was really nice indeed). The change was offered during breakfast, and we were in a hurry. The staff member assured me they can handle it and asked me to leave the key in the hotel. By the time we returned to the hotel that evening, all my things were moved to the new room. And that is something I would prefer to do!

All in all, weren't for the weird things, it would be a really good place.

Nice but weird

This is a reasonably priced stay for all kinds of trips around in the area. The rooms are nice with TV and very nice bathrooms - The interior is a fun mix of historic elements as well as modern. The famous Nurburg Ring is not far away, 30 km. The old city of Mayen with the Genoveva-Castle and the Schiefer Museum, Schloss Bürresheim is not far and for a family trip there is the public pool right across the street (Nette Bad - newly renovated indoor and outdoor pool). 
Great for exploring the Eifel area.
