Very nice situation on the hillside of Mittenwald. Great views from the rooms on the mountain facing side of the hotel. Plenty of room in the room. Nice bathroom with heated floors and towel racks. Good bathroom products. Beautiful breakfast room and nice choices. They offer afternoon tea every day. The family who operates the hotel are charming. Very clean everywhere and a beautiful garden area.

Still a great place!

The hotel is clean, well decorated, and convenient to the main town. The balcony to our room was large enough for a table and two chairs with room to spare and had a view of the spectacular mountains. The owners/staff were friendly and spoke English. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious with an assortment of items. They don’t cook eggs to order. They provide soft boiled eggs and hard boiled egg slices. The croissants are fresh and delicious! They provide an afternoon tea each day. 
The reasons for four instead of five bubbles is not their fault though.  There are house renovations going on in a house in front of the hotel. It’s very noisy and they start early and end late in the day.

Beautiful view and great property

Spectacular place in an unmatched town.   This was by far or favorite hotel of our German trip.   It's wonderfully located just above and outside the bustle of town but only a 10 minute walk to restaurants and town.    Great views and terrific hospitality.  Room was big, comfortable and well appointed with great bathroom.   Vanessa was simply amazing as our host.   When we arrived, I simply said my name and she grabbed our key, gave us a tour of the property and made recommendations for things to do and places to eat-on top of the written information she gave us as well.   Each day, she then followed up if she saw us and asked how we liked things.    (All this in flawless English).   Breakfast and snack were great too.

Sheer perfection

A beautiful place to stay & made most welcome once again. Great view from our balcony. We really enjoyed our stay once again, the Sonnenbichl never fails to live up to expectations with lovely service.
Mittenwald is a beautiful town with lots of charm which, we were sorry to leave however, will certainly be back.

Lovely Stay once again

Sonnenbichl is located at very next to the nice park, and a walking distance to everything: main street, restaurants, shops, trekking starts, bus, train. We had a nice spacious room, enough closets for all the clothes and stuff -- with an amazing views from the balcony. Room and hotel are very quiet and relaxing (though didn't test sauna). And good variety, hiqh quality incredients breakfast. 

I speak barely 10 words of German, but Hotel owner and stuff speak all very good English. They were kind to give tips and hints for places to go and visit.

Superlative visit all the way

We stayed here for six nights and really liked the place. The view from our room was gorgeous and the house and the garden were beautiful. The bathroom was a bit of 70's style, but it was clean and everything worked. The owners and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and had nice variety. I would stay here again.

Nice hotel with friendly service

Second stay for us in this hotel.  Recently remodeled very nice rooms with spectacular views of the Karwendel Alps.  Located next to a park in a quiet area, a 10 minute walk to the center of town. We were there in Spring, so took advantage of hiking trails starting just a few minutes walk away.  Very complete buffet breakfast, delicious.  Hotel owner and staff were welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable.  We speak a little German and enjoyed conversations with them in that language, but they are fine with English too.  There are some nice photos of the property and views on their website, where you can book a room, the views in person are even more impressive!  Loved the place, we will definitely go back.

Delightful Stay

Visited last two summers and once October gone and it was an amazing experience! We had a nice double room and with a new bathroom and an immaculate view of Mittenwald and the Karwendel mountain. The owners were very hospitable and were very helpful with making plans during our stay. Lovely people! I can only imagine how magical it will be during winter season - will be finding out soon!

Simply amazing 

My wife and I stayed here for a week with friends to have a walking holiday in the beautiful area of Germany, and Austria literally just over the fence!
The Gasthaus is lovely and clean, well appointed and with the friendliest of staff who do their best to speak English to us when we are stuck for words which is often!
The rooms are spacious and ours (room 24) had a wrap around balcony on the corner of the building.
Views are superb. Weather generally very good.
Breakfast is buffet style and very good with good quality selection and more than enough quantity. Only five minutes walk to the town centre which has a great range of eating places. Out hosts have recommended many good eating places so we have not been disappointed.
The only thing we would change if it were possible would be to have a tray in the bedroom with tea and coffee facilities, but other than that highly recommended.
