I stayed at Sunnyside apartments in Laim from December 2020 until April 2021 and had no issues at all. The room is clean, comfortable and spacious and everything works well. Additionally, arranging access to the apartment including collection of the key out of hours was no problem at all. The landlady is very friendly and accommodating and I would recommend a stay here if you are looking for accommodation within Munich. Thank you for your hospitality.

Having read all of the reviews before arriving we were very nervous about not being able to get into our room. Prior to our day of arrival we tried to contact the apartments via text message, phone call and email all to no avail. Bearing this in mind we changed our train time and got to the apartment at 9.30am. We got into the apartment foyer by chance as when we got to the door another guest was leaving so we were able to get in. The manager arrived at 10am and was very surprised to see us there that early. We told her that we had tried to call but hadn't been able to get through, she gave us the same phone number again. She said our room would be ready at 1230pm so we left our bags and went into town. When we got back much later in the day, they had taken our bags into the room. The room was fabulous. Very modern, great kitchenette and even a balcony that we had dinner out on one evening. A great apartment that has strange systems for check in and very difficult to communicate with.

Great apartments in Laim, Munich

Arrived early to avoid problems.

I booked this appartment for one week. Reception was supposed to be occupied during 10am and 1pm and as my flight was delayed, I asked a friend living in Munich to collect the key. I had already read the trip advisor Reviews about the Reception Problem. My friend went to the appartments at the correct time and there was no-one at reception. She got the key off the cleaner. The cleaner rang the landlord and was advised which room was allocated to us.

I tried to contact this property Prior to Arrival .I was given a telephone number that I tried to ring but it was engaged and there was no possibility of leaving a message. I could not contact the owner.

My friend had the key for us and the code to get in the front door. That was great. The appartment itself was spotless. The cleaining Lady was the only personnel that we met the whole week.

Our appartment was on the top floor, very spacious and clean. The only negative was that there were no shutters outside. The weather was gorgeous during our stay and as the appartment was on the top floor and full of Windows it was unbearably warm at night for sleeping. The terrace outside was brilliant..

The appartment was beside our friends so the Location was brilliant. You have the Trams, bus and Sbahn all in the area - and you are not far from the City centre. On the Underground, the nearest SBahn Station is Laim. You walk 10 mins there. Alternatively you can get the tram into Karlsplatz Stachus that is closer - less than a 5 Minute walk to the tram.

Just a pity about the problems getting into this appartment. If you cannot get in, you have to book somewhere else last Minute at an extra expense.

How do I get in?

It is horrible experience dealing with owner Marion Klur.
My daughter stayed there for almost five months. I have paid 3k euros Kaution.
Check-out after confirming everything was Ok with them.'
To date (october 2025)  no reply on phone, no Kaution money back

The website has not been updated for well over 10 years so do not believe a word of it. This is little more than a low grade badly run hostel which is dark, neglected and depressing. There is no reception, there is no tram: these are not serviced apartments at all, this is not even a "boarding house" it is NOT a suitable location for a visit to Munich and certainly not something that any business person or families would choose. Steer well clear of this place. We decided to take the owner to court for misrepresentation so we moved out to the Sheraton in Bogenhausen an infinitely more pleasant experience than the Sunnyside hovel. The owner should be ashamed of herself. Greetings to Rosa - who cleaned the unpleasant rooms to the best of her ability.

Overflowing rubbish bins outside the hostel!

I booked this hotel five months in advance, and the day before I was set to arrive they cancelled my reservation. 
I'd read reviews from other people who'd had been cancelled on the same way, and decided to risk it, which turned out to be a poor choice. Now I'm scrambling to find somewhere else to stay and paying higher prices.
If you're looking for a hotel where your reservation won't be cancelled, book somewhere else. Don't trust this hotel.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL 

Booked a room via Airbnb for 4 nights.Left earlier, couldn't stay longer than 2 nights 

Only recommended for a short night like after the Octoberfest when you are drunk.

No possibility to call the landlord, reception is fake. 
Called 12 x - no response.Only 1 hr later after whatsapp with the answer: "can't talk: what's up?" 
A reception desk exists, nobody there. This is all fake.  Bell exists, but you can't ring. It was taken off.

The room: view on garbage tins, tv didn't work, wifi didn't work. Very small.No coffee, no tea, no fridge.
Sticky single room.
Bathroom is ok, unfortunately you can't sleep there.

Forget about this place.
They should be kicked out of any rating.

Avoid! Worst place ever!

Booked on Expedia. Hotel took payment a week after we booked despite saying the wouldn't take out the money until the date of the stay. Week before we were due to travel, we tried to get in contact with the hotel to sort out how to check in, with no luck. Contacted Expedia who told us that the hotel couldn't accommodate us due to a "flood". No problem. We booked somewhere else around the corner. Next day we get an email saying that the hotel is refusing to waive its cancellation policy which is ridiculous considering we're not the ones wanting to cancel. On top of all of this, Expedia are refusing to refund us which means we need to sort out a refund with the bank. 

Can't comment on the property itself because we never managed to get inside it!

If you want peaceful experience for a similar price, see if the A&O Laim around the corner is free! It'll save you a good load of hassle.

Avoid at all costs!

We booked this apartment on Airbnb the day before and messaged the host a number of times with no reply. Got to the property at the expected Check-in time and tried to call for a code for the lock box, calls on whatsapp were rejected by the host and calls to the other number provided at the property were unanswered. We waited for 2 hours in the lobby - luckily another guest had let us in there - and finally received a message saying that the accommodation had been cancelled by Airbnb due to hail damage - something that Airbnb had no knowledge of. Unfortunately this property isn’t listed under the same name on Airbnb so we didn’t see the reviews until now. Avoid at all costs.

No contact from host

I had a reservation for three days all paid up prior through Hotels.com and texted twice, sent an email to given number and address advising our arrival time. Did not receive any reply by either mode.
On a cold, rainy and snowy evening on 12th January, we arrived by taxi by 6:00pm and found no one to collect keys. Rang the number over ten times with no answer. Met a resident as he was coming out and he had the same issues on his arrival and let us in to the foyer in sympathy as we were already snowed up. Tried numerous times to contact with no success.
Finally, contacted Hotels.com and they kindly relocated us to an another hotel with nothing to pay. Got another taxi and arrived to the Hotel Super 8 around 7:45pm which was even closer to the city centre, reception girl was an angel and the room was fabulous.
Luckily, we got somewhere to sleep that night. But if we haven't had money or help from Hotels.com we would've been stranded outside in that freezing  night.
Operators or owners like this should be black listed and taken off from the accommodation providers list for the benefit of travellers.
This owner/manager/receptionist should rot in sewage pit.
