All positive comments written before are valid. It's a very friendly, cozy and relaxing place. Even for business trips it's much better to stay there instead at any ordinary 3* in Berlin. A better comfort for a lower price. 

One should contact the hotel by phone in advance if one wants to check-in earlier or late in the evening. The reception is 'formally' open only in the afternoon till 9pm. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, and could take the rooms already at noon time. 

The restaurant is open for dinner after 5pm.

One feels welcome at this hotel as a family or on business

We were at this place 2 years ago. All I wrote back then still applies. Except: We had a much better room (in the old part of the hotel), and they offer halfboard also during the week. The room was very quiet (inside and outside), very big for European hotel-rooms. Interior is simple, remembers a bit of the 1960'ies. Nice bath-room (shower cabin could be bigger), TV, WIFI. At this time of the year there were few people staying at the hotel. The restaurant is still a pearl. Remembers more like one in France with white linen, fire place, lots of candels and very good service and also a very good kitchen. Breakfast is simply outstanding. In 1 hour you can be in the middle of Berlin, or in 3/4 at Tegel airport.

A jewel in the countryside - close to Berlin, Germany

Small hotel in the countryside, in the heart of a small village (more a hamlet). Our room was not very big, the shower cabin rather small. Beside that everything was perfect - very clean, minibar, TV, WiFi. Noise from the outside almost nill (beside the birds), noise from the neighbour room depends on the occupants. The restaurant by the way is superb - the breakfast is a delight (actually more like a english/american breakfast). Big garden, good parking. Very close to the biggest crane resting spot in continental Europe (October 2013 more than 90000 cranes plus thousands of geese and limikol's). Over the weekend take the 'special' - room with halfboard - very good value for money. Important: The hotel is in the hamlet Tietzow, quit a few km from Nauen away!

In the real countryside - close to Berlin / Postdam

Stayed at the Helenenhof on the last night of our trip.  It is in the country but only about 40 minutes drive from Tegel, Berlin's airport.  Much more affordable than places in Berlin proper.  Our room had a nice view of the courtyard and was quite spacious.  We enjoyed a good dinner in the hotel restaurant and were served by the owner who is 3rd generation there.  He told us about his family's experiences during WWII and under Soviet domination and then about revamping the hotel after the wall came down.  I'd have stayed just for the stories, but the hotel is very nice.  It has a children's play area too so families should find it a good end of day place to relax.  Excellent local beer on tap too!

Comfortable and Affordable and Family Owned

Nice little hotel that we definatly go back to when in the area. The breakfast is great and the rooms are very clean and tidy also the bathroom. 
The only disatvantage for me was that Booking.com charged 5€ more than the actual hotel price for a single room ( with queensize bed and my lil boy stayed for free) and the people that take their bloody dogs and don't  get rid off the dog sh... 
Very child friendly with a play area inside and a nice big garden outside
