We picked this hotel partly because of its location.  We looked for a hotel within walking distance of restaurants (in addition to the hotel restaurant) and the city center, where there are many things to do.  I am certainly glad that we chose this one!  This hotel is also very near the hospital St. Antonius, where there is, according to one of the guests, a cancer treatment procedure that can only be found in 3 hospitals in the country.

We were a bit early, but still greeted warmly at the door by the owner.  He then offered us a cup of coffee, and sat and chatted with us while we enjoyed it.  Shortly, there was a room ready, and he helped with our bag.

The room was spacious and modern, even the floor in the bathroom sported under tile heating.  We had a great view overlooking the city in the distance.  There is parking on site and off the road, and it is included in the rate.

Sadly, the cook for the restaurant was not well, but we were offered an alternative cook to come in if we wanted it.  Instead, we drove (it was raining) to the center and enjoyed a very delicious German grill plate.

Breakfast was as others have shared...fresh eggs to order, fresh bakery items (I had a delicious croissant) an assortment of meats and fresh fruit either to enjoy apart or cut up on the cereal that was also offered.

All of this, for a very reasonable price.  We will be booking here in the future, when we are in the area!

Very clean big rooms ,hd channels on the tv in the room,good food in restaurant,nice bar with pooltable,excellent breakfast buffet,allways supersocial friendly boss,now him for 10 years!  now,free wifi 

Excellent stay

My family has been coming here for many years. It was only my second time, last time in 2005, and so I had not seen the updated hotel since ownership changed.

I was really impressed. We got one of the renovated rooms to the back. It was huge, quiet, and super clean. It does not have a lot of charm, but it was modern and crisp. I liked that a water kettle, coffee, and tea was provided so I could have a coffee first thing after getting up. By the way, I had the most comfortable mattress. I slept so well.

The breakfast was really good. Breads, rolls, cold cuts, cheeses, jams etc., cereals, coffee choices out of an automatic coffee machine (choices of cappuccino, latte, ...), teas, and juices.
The owner makes your eggs the way you like them, freshly in front of you. Very nice.

The service overall was really good. We will definitely stay here again, and I understand now why my family always does.

A clean hotel, centrally located - only a 10 min walk from the central station of Gronau. Breakfast was nice with fresh baked bread. I had a very quiet room facing the garden. There is also a nice restairant/bar on the ground floor

Nice place, not far from the yrain station and the center

This hotel is really nice to stay in when you spend some time in Gronau.
The host is extremely kind and always willing to lend a hand if needed, parking spaces are right next to the hotel for free and a gas station is next to that.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable and equipped with a big flat screen TV, WiFi is included in the price.
Breakfast is definitely good, there is everything one may need, like bread, rolls, fruit, cheese and meat, different kinds of cornflakes as well as tea and coffee. Different variations of eggs are personally prepared by the boss of the hotel.
I can definitely recommend this hotel.

Really nice and cozy hotel

Excellent hotel, recently enlarged. Very well, and tastefully equipped. Very friendly owners. They provide a breakfast buffet and boil or fry your eggs to taste! It is situated at the entrance to the city, the centre of which is a 10 minutes walk. All in all very much recommended. The 8.8  awarded by Tripadvisor is way too low!

Top qualitate at friendly price.

Hotel Fritz is located just a few kilometers from the Dutch border in the city of Gronau. The access from the highway is very easy.
The receptionists give a very warm welcome and the room is actually more than you can expect for an econimic 3-star hotel. 
The room is big enough and the bed is convenient, it is actually more comfortable than the rooms in the hotels of known chains. The bathroom is big an clean.
There is a fresh breakfast served and the owner offers you freshly cooked scrambled eggs or omelette.

Perfect hotel on the Dutch border

When we arrived the owner said they were over booked and they never got our booking.com reservation because their printer wasn't working... not a great start !

However they had single rooms available which was fine, he gave us some cash to spend in a bar to get a drink and also charged a lot less for the rooms, so we were happy with the outcome.

The room was pretty large for a singe, the bathroom was very nice, but the main room was tired and a little dated, it was very clean but the furniture was dated as was the decoration.

Breakfast selection was very small, some cereal and meats, but they did cook your eggs to order which was nice.

The staff were helpful and friendly, overall it was a nice hotel and I would stop their again, it didn't do anything wrong, but it didn't do anything special either.
