I stayed here for 4 nights last week and enjoyed my stay. I was lucky to be given a large room, which I really enjoyed. Some of my friends had rooms which were not much larger than the small single bed that was in them so I was very lucky with the room I was given.

My room was clean, spacious and comfortable. It had some seats, a wardrobe, a desk, bathroom with shower, toilet and sink, a full length mirror and a balcony. The heating worked extremely well and I was very comfortable during my stay. 

The staff were absolutely lovely and were very personable and welcoming. The fact they spoke English was fantastic. There was a disturbance in the hotel one night from some guests and this was dealt with the next day by management. The hotel has a sitting area, which was great to be able to sit with friends to chat or read. The stairs are ok and were easy to carry luggage up. Staff were also happy to assist with luggage which was nice.

Breakfast was basic but fine with breads, cheese, cereal and juice. Wifi was included but was quite unreliable at times. Some times, it worked fine but at other times it wouldn't work at all.

The walk to the centre of town is through a pretty park and only takes a few minutes.

Lovely place to stay...

Good hotel close to the centre of town. Clean and comfortable room with a balcony and great breakfast. Excellent views of the surrounding alps and plenty of free parking. No English TV channels but that is not unusual for the area. 

Comfortable hotel 

The Room was very cold. no heating at all! told the hotel manager the following morning. he did offer to come and look for what was wrong but after he finished his breakfast! oh and he still had half of it in his mouth while talking to me. he eventually came late at night to check and gave me an electric heating the next morning! 
my friends room was over heated and it couldn't be turned down!!

rooms on the ground floor are very small compared to the rooms on the 1st floors! internet is quiet expensive 9 euros for 24H. free internet on one lobby computer.

could be much better with an organized manager

The Hotel Garni Rex in Oberstdorf is a budget hotel although not cheap, single rooms run 45 Euro a night.  The room was small but very clean, bathroom super tiny, hard to sqeeze in and shut the door.  
The hotel has about 40 rooms, 25 of them singles, many with balcony useful in Winter for keeping food and beverages cold as there is no frig in the room.
No elevator
We requested a quiet room and ours overlooked the parking lot and they apparently lease spaces to commuters as every morning at 7 a.m. at least a dozen vehicles and drivers showed up to park and slam car doors.  
There is no inner door and foyer as is found in many European hotels so you could hear the corridor noises clearly.  Housekeeping started vacuuming before 8 am.  Walls are paper thin, you could hear them coughing in the next room.
Breakfast wasn't served until 8am.  If you wanted a soft-boiled egg you had to order it the day before.  The cheapest rolls and bread was served every day, the juice tasted watery and you had to ask for extra cream actually condensed milk for coffee and tea as they gave you a tiny pitcher that held perhaps 2 tablespoonfuls.
TV got about 10 channels, all German.  TV is over the bed so you either sit in the chair by the little desk or lay at the end of the bed to watch.
Hot water is shut off at night and takes awhile to get going in the morning.
Heat is shut off during the day and it was rainy and damp while I was there and you couldn't turn it on to get the chill out of the room.
They advertised hair dryers in the room but you had to borrow it from the front desk.  No toiletries in bathroom, no radio or alarm clock in room although telephone could be set for a wake-up call.

All in all a penny pinching, noisy place and you could find better for the price.
