We booked this hotel a year in advance as we know during Christmas market time is very busy and we requested a room with view of market on the 2nd floor. Where we had stayed once before and had fantastic views from every window in our room. When we finally arrived after searching for their parking ( very difficult to find) we checked in & were told our room was not on the 2nd floor as requested but on the 3rd floor. There is no elevator and you must lug your bags up yourself a very large number of steps which was very uncomfortable for me as I had a hip replacement and also have issues with my knee. This climb was extremely difficult. Once in our room we discovered the market view was nothing like the view from our requested room and you literally had to open the window and stick your head out to take a picture praying you wouldn’t drop you phone or camera. You would think making a reservation so far in advance with a specific Room request could be honored. We returned to the front desk to find out why we were not given the room we wanted. We were told that room was not available as it had plumbing problems.  However when we left the hotel and looked at the building that rooms lights were always on like someone was staying in it. The hotel has a front door entrance but guests must use the side door exiting into a side street vs. directly into market. Although a nice place this time was disappointing. If returning to Quedlinburg again likely will look for other accommodations.

Disappointing visit

We had a double room for one night at Christmas time and were very satisfied! Very modern and well maintained, nicely decorated and clean! The bathroom is very generous with a flat shower and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was good. Everything you need was there. The staff was somewhat reserved.

Generous, modern rooms

The photos of the rooms on the website and in other booking portals are misleading and do not correspond to reality. When we got to the shower, unfortunately, apart from the hard mattress, the bathroom was so small that one could lie on the sink during the toilet passage. If someone was a little more plentiful, it would have been difficult to even get to the shower here. Well, they're craft shower houses, but please don't put pictures of huge renovated bathrooms in the whole shower. Unfortunately, when we got to the shower, we had to find out that the water wasn't deciding between hot and cold.

Disappointing

We got a very large room in the new building of the hotel. The Buffett Breakfast is very affluent. The hotel is centrally located and quiet. The service is good and friendly. We leave our car parked all week. Many restaurants are within walking distance.

It's a great holiday hotel.

Although it was not so easy to find or drive, it was of course a fantastic location right on the market (all within walking distance). The car could then be accessed on the hotel's own parking lot, which, in turn, - owing to the inner city situation - was only accessible by a large road, free of charge and a one-minute walk to the hotel.

I'm going to get it.

Nice historic yet modern hotel on the town square in Quedlinburg. We had a small room and the bathroom was tiny. Many stairs so not recommended for mobility impaired. Great parking but a small walk to the hotel. Fabulous German style breakfast buffet. The bed was comfortable but very squeaky ;-)

Nice historic yet modern hotel

Since we booked shortly, we were happy to get another room. This was on the third floor without an elevator and at 40 degrees without air conditioning. The room was nicely furnished with antique softwood furniture. The parking space was fine walking distance away and the breakfast was really great, really exceptional and unexpectedly delicious with an incredibly good service. It's a shame you couldn't sit outside. It's also very quiet at night, since most places close at 10 p.m.

Great location in the old town.

I've never written reviews while I'm still on site, but exceptions are known to confirm the rule. In my case, it was a very short-term extended weekend, and since I've been there in 2020, but with many unforgettable places, it was the perfect opportunity to catch up now. I already knew the sister hotel Maria Aurora and I was happy to find something else in the first place, even over a weekend. The booking was done directly through the hotel website and a prompt, two previous questions were answered by email. The Hoop is a hotel directly on the market, which offers new rooms in development and also in such buildings.

That's great.

Historic building, located directly on the market. Our room under the roof (just like the staircase house) is definitely not barrier-free. This is just a reference, not a criticism. People with disabilities or some advanced age should get phone counselling before booking. Furniture (as well as the large bathroom) is quite new and very pretty. Good breakfast buffet, there is direct view to the market. Coronary rules were observed everywhere.

It's good to be back.

The reports on this page about the Hotel Theophano are very positive, which is why we booked the hotel. We had a comfort room (No. 13) that was right next to the market and was loud accordingly. The room has a wooden foot floor that is extremely poorly laid out, and it squeaks or creaks at every step. This is not romantic, but just disturbing when you have to get up at night. The bathroom has an automatic light switch so that you have to stand in the bright light even at night without avoiding it. The staff is very differently prepared to serve. One day it was to bring us a perfect second day, the young waitress just passed the day and then even took off, taking away coffee; she had to get to the tables; I had to get the coffee myself.
