We have one of the apartments for a weekend. The room is spacious, the bed is ok, the kitchen would be ok if it was clean. The bathroom is a bit run down but ok and also not very clean. 

The noise from the staircase, the adjacent rooms and especially the room above prevents a good nights sleep. You honestly van follow the conversations upstairs.

The kitchen is equipped with just the minimum- and that could to with some washing up. 

Only the location justifies why you might stay here

Central, noisy, not clean, even for that price not enough

The location was great, right in the old town. The bed linen was freshly laundered and the beds were fairly comfortable. 

However the hostel was run down, shabby and desperately in need of some TLC.

The electrical wiring worried me. Some sockets in the wall were loose. There were no individual wall lights by each bed. Instead, extension cables and clip on lights were would around the metal bed frames. An electrocution waiting to happen!

The bathrooms and bedroom were superficially clean rather than spotless. The kitchen was dirty and food in the fridge was going moldy. There was dust on the floors and window ledges.

The lockers did not work - even with a padlock attached they could still be opened. 

There was zero atmosphere. The other guests seemed to be mostly older men who I assume were working locally and seemed to just spend a lot of time hanging around the hostel. They would also use the ladies bathroom instead of the men's washroom (why, I don't know). 

I felt uncomfortable here and couldn't wait to leave.

Shabby, run down, not terribly clean hostel with zero atmosphere and dodgy electrical wiring

Handy location in the heart of Regensburg beautiful old city. Reception doubles up as a convenience store, which might be helpful if you need groceries urgently (although the old city comprises at least three proper supermarkets) or want newspapers at breakfast. Very homely comfortable living room, although people are allowed to smoke in the adjacent courtyard and cigarette smoke tends to drift inside through the open door, which may OK if you are a smoker but I hated. Simple, practical self-catering kitchen; it is just a shame that the patrons choose to disregard the sign asking people to wash up their dishes, which they prefer to leave unwashed in the sink for the staff to deal with the following day. Simple bathrooms which I think only get cleaned once a day, so timing is crucial. But if you use them just after they have been cleaned, they are clean and usable. The dormitories are quite spacious but with no storage facility except a very few decrepit, dented and grimey steel lockers which I judged safer not to touch. Bedding is charged separately and you are allowed to use your own sleeping bag, which is clearly unhygienic, but nobody appears to do. All and all I would have quite liked this backpackers except for the fact that a large proportion of the guests appeared to be  underemployed long-termers working locally, who were boisterous in the dorm late at night and smoke a lot and often, with the associated stink of cigarettes wafting after them wherever they go.

Pros:
Clean double room and shared bathroom (the cleanest hostel I ve been to)
After I read a review from January regarding the room (or a simmilar room) in which I ve been, I noticed that they improved the situation, so it s nice to see that the owners really read this (they put  signs with "no smoking" everywhere and also in the welcome letter, they put some shelves in the room for clothing, practical window roller blinds etc.) 
The kitchen is well equipped, there is a shop downstairs where you can buy everything you need
It is very central and in walking distance from the railwaystation

Contras:
The doors of the three rooms which share the bathroom are quite loud
The price for a double room with shared bathroom in March is almost the same like a cheap hotel with breakfast a little bit far from the city center
In the end it depends of the luck you have with your neighbours and also if you are a hostel person or not (although this is really a quite and clean one)

Clean very central place, good for short stays, very good for a hostel

It is a really quiet place, ideal to have rest between long train commuting and substantial walks around the city. The amenities are very simple and therefore quite easy to deal with.
We faced with lack of liquid soap in one spot and with no toilet paper in a WC. The hostel and reception are separate doors in the street, so they seem to be cut from each other.
The girl at the reception first didn't look very helpful, but later I noticed she'd got a lot of duties, because they keep not only a hostel, but also run a small shop and provide some postal services. She was just tired; so it might be a good idea to check in at early hours.
