Although the facilities themselves are difficult to describe, the atmosphere in the hotel is quite familiar, nice and superb.
The restaurant is really good.
The hotel is xomfortable and the furnitures/decoration are somehow out of date which brings a nice experience.


Great staff and superb atmosphere

Stayed here 1 night for a business trip and the hotel is a delight, from the warm and enthusiastic welcome all the way to a simply delicious breakfast .
The room I was in (2) was large, will appointed and the shower room was huge! The bed comfy and the pillows too.
The owners and staff are delightful and work hard to keep this gem of a hotel so lovely.

Absolutely outstanding, friendly welcome and lovely rooms

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay.  The staff is warm and welcoming.  Menu was outstanding and bar was well stocked.  Its a B&B so the rooms vary quite a bit.  My room was spacious, bed and shower were perfect.  Garden was beautiful.  Also, short walk from city center.  Had fun with colleagues playing Kegel in the basement. Great experience.

Wonderful Hospitality

I spend two nights at Zum alten Brunnen on a business trip. Check in was at the bar with locals having a relaxed night out. To my surprise, hotel is located in village in Germany, the host spoke fluent English. The hosts all the way showed a hospitality that you seldom experience at hotels. The food at restaurant was really good with fresh white asparagus on all main courses. 

Top class hospitality

Broke journey here on the way to Magdeburg from Holland. Check-in is from 5pm, however it was suggested to us by the owner that he lives very close by so you can ring if you arrive earlier. There is a notice to that effect on the door. We spent our time exploring the town itself. We found the old town square very nice and a good place to sit and watch the world go by. It is only a small area and the rest of the town appeared quite modern.
The staff were very pleasant and we received a warm welcome from the owner, Bernd. He spoke very good English and is clearly proud of the family business.
Our room was clean and spacious with a large bathroom comprising a large double sink and shower cubicle. Large TV but with no English speaking channels.
Parking is to the side of the premises.
The hotel has a lovely old bar & restaurant where we chose to eat that evening. Good menu and well presented. We both thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this hotel and have no difficulty in recommending it
