Excellent hotel, shiny, clean, amazingly designed. The rooms are very large and spacious and very clean. The staff is outstanding and kind. The breakfast is excellent!!!!!
In conclusion, a highly recommended hotel

EXCELLENT most recommended 

The large double was very comfortable with an excellent bed and a huge walk in shower. Everything was immaculately clean. The ladies on reception were extremely welcoming. Breakfast was of the same standard encountered as in some of the 5* places we've stayed in. We will definitely be back! 

Great find, wonderful hospitality 

Best aspect, is the breakfast room, great choice and good quality.
But, more or less, the upgame expires there, as the room has a terrible small bathroom and shower, amateurish furniture, that is bad fitting and appallingly uncomfortable balcony seats.
No useful info on local buses, from the owners, which is quite poor on a professional level, they run past the front door!
Avoid the fridge beer, extortionate prices!
Quite a dull area, really..
The food in Bavaria, is extremely boring. You will find the same menu, everywhere!
Meat, meat, meat eg pork!
The souvenir offerings, in the hotel boutique, were quite overpriced, particularly the so-called antique birds , in stone.
Actually, the breakfast, became a nightmare of egg combos, after a couple of days and there was nothing hot to go with that!

Ok, nothing in the village.

The host is great and we had the most fantastic breakfast in the most beautifully decorated room. It has mostly ruined every other breakfast for us. Just about everything on the buffet was incredible and the scrambled eggs!
The whole setting with the snow in the background was just perfect. 
As for the room, it was quiet, cozy and comfortable with a huge bathroom.

Great Bavarian hospitality

My husband and my self have spent a weekend at the Chiemsee and stayed at Hotel zur Sonne. I was already enthusiastic about this place when watching the pics in Internet and booking a room, but once we got there I got really impressed about the kindness of the staff (the family who runs the business). All the details are taken into account in this place and this guarantees to the guests a cosy atmosphere. Our room was clean and had a nice balcony, where you can enjoy a glass of wine and get a first feeling about the area, as well as see the lake! The Chiemsee area is just fabulous! What makes this place really special is also the amazing breakfast (which is more properly a brunch) and the lovely room where it is served! 
We loved our staying here and I recommend this place! 


Lovely place 

Really enjoyed our stay here.  The host was really friendly and very accommodating.  

The breakfast room/reception is a sight to behold, absolutely wonderful with many beautiful things on display (and for sale).  If your not able to stay here still try and book a table for breakfast in the morning as I have to say it was the best breakfast I have ever had.  So much choice and variety I could have sat there until dinnertime!

I was a little disappointed with our room at first, but not because there was anything wrong with it.  It was a good size, clean, plenty of space for our things, the shower was good and powerful with no hot water issues and a nice view of the lake from the balcony, it's just that after entering such a wonderful room downstairs you build up your expectations and the rooms are not as luxurious as that. :)  

We arrived here on public transport, which wasn't ideal and therefore, I would recommend a car if you plan on staying here.  I would definitely go back if we were in the area again.
