The Hotel Hochriegel advertises on its homepage the slogan WILLCOME BE FREUNDEN, which was the feeling we had from the beginning when we checked in for our 1-week vacation there. We had selected the offer of Wanderings and Wellness Weeks and were accommodated in a 45 sqm Enzian suite in the side building. In the Residence there was also a swimming pool, a generous Finnish panoramic panorama and a Roman aromasamp bath. After a hike, you could perfectly reach the tired members of the bus. Once again, the offer of the Wanderings included 4 high-speed waits with the Wanderings-Winds, we had three free trips from the Wanderings-Winds, and the hotel itself is located in the centre of the city, with a very good location for all visitors to enjoy a 4-mile excursion, so that it is also located in the centre of the city, with a 4-mile driveway and a 4-mile driveway, which is also located in the centre of the city, with a large parking area with a large parking area, and the hotel with

Purely recreational

Booked via a well known website, this hotel was very good indeed. First thing of note though - the photos of the hotel show two separate buildings, which are separated by the fairly busy road through the village, not the flower-filled meadow it would appear.

The hotel food is wonderful - an amazing buffet breakfast with most everything one could want. This is followed up with a free lunchtime buffet with several choices of main course/desserts and cake, with various  and ice creams, all on a 'help yourself to whatever' basis. 

Evening meal is a choice of main courses, with set appetizer, then choice of soup or the starter, and a choice of desserts as well. Add in a salad buffet , and the huge cheese buffet and its a 6 course evening meal to your choice. just a note that there are only a couple of other cafe's/restaurants in the village, so evening meal choice would be very limited if staying bed and breakfast. 

To work off the calories, the hotel hires out both mountain bikes and E-Mountain Bikes which allow use of the extensive biking trails nearby. Walkers are well catered for with many different planned routes- many starting from the village. The hotel also has its own tennis court, with rackets  available from reception, and a small gym (cross trainer and static bikes, but no treadmill). 

The hotel was VERY Covid aware, with nitrile gloves needing to be worn when getting anything from the buffet/pouring coffees and teas etc. 

A fantastic stay in this very good standard hotel.   

very good hotel with amazing food.

After our Tenerife vacation fell into the water because of the Neckermann bankruptcy, we decided to go to the Bavarian Forest. The Hotel Hochriegel absolutely deserves its four stars. Great rooms, very nice and hospitable hotel staff. The breakfast and dinner are great. We even extended the stay.

Quiet Days in the Bavarian Forest

Except for the somewhat noisy room on the street, we were very satisfied with the excellent food, the extremely friendly service, the small swimming pool, the sauna and the very clean shower and sanitation facilities.

Top family hotel

Beautiful, family-run hotel with another apartment building across the street, warm hospitality, very good cuisine, a varied daily schedule including guided walks, just ideal for relaxation, swimming pool and sauna very clean and tidy, ideal as a day off now in winter.

Ideal hike hotel in the Bavarian Forest

The owner-managed hotel is located directly on the main street. The rooms are maintained and clean. It is an older house, which is complemented by the opposite residence (mainly suites are to be booked). This building is also about 30 years old. The wellness area was offered as recently renovated, but this was not noticeable. Overall the area was clean, besides the swimming pool there was a sauna, a steam bath and a rest room.

Good, but not in all respects.

Yes, it's Bavarian, maybe a little too bourgeois, but it's an absolutely compelling concept, uncompromising personal care with a lot of short-sighted offerings nearby, very good cuisine, great wines at fair prices, very friendly staff, great pools and plenty of space to relax. Thank you for five very relaxing days.

Accelerated

We were a five-person hiking group on the long hiking trail 'Pandurestie through the Bavarian Forest.' After a 30-km hike we had arrived tired at the Hotel Hochriegel. The day before we had booked here. This hike is conducted under strict fasting. When we asked the receptionist to cook only a vegetable soup instead of the half-board, the boss very unkindly forwarded us. With the words For vegetable soup, he shouldn't have had to learn to cook, go on. Others should avoid this hotel!

The group was unfriendly rejected.

A large and beautiful room, very good meals at a very nice price (10 euros off drinks in half-board formula, very generous breakfasts, smiles from all the staff in the image of the kindness of the boss who provided me every night with the printed menu in French when I was the only one in this case: bravo and thanks!!!

GENTILES and Smiles

Hotel in total is very good. We arrived very late but we were given keys very quickly and asked if we would like to drink something after a long way. 
Room is big enough and very clean. Complimentary bottle of water and wine glass as a gift from some glass factory nearby. Hot water was available even that late. 
Rich breakfast: very good choice of meat, wurst etc. and very good choice of different cheeses, fresh bread, fried eggs, deep fried bacon, variety of muesli, jams, honey, juices, butter, milk and mineral water. 
As far as I remember there were also some alcoholic drinks but I am not sure which ones. No vegetables and lack of fruits but that was not a problem for us at all. Quick service. Russian speaking staff in breakfast room (Elena), very polite, very attentive.
There is a spa in a hotel, as well as a gym and a pool but I can't say anything about them as we did not use it. I would recommend this hotel for others, it is really of good level.

It was a little bit noisy in the morning because hotel is situated on the main road, so cars began to ride early. When we drink coffee in the afternoon it took us almost 15 minutes to find staff to pay for it :)
