Spremberg is the ancestral home of my family.  Although we have no family living there now, I took the opportunity to visit the town over the weekend during a recent business trip that took me to Prague.

The hotel is modestly equipped, but more than sufficient, highly affordable and very clean.  The staff speaks some English and with the help of Google Translate, we were able to effectively communicate to register, order meals, check-out, etc.   We had dinner in the adjacent restaurant our first evening and our room came with breakfast the following morning.  

Being of German descent and having some connection to the area I asked for a meal to be considered local/regional.  The waitress was not only helpful, but excited to share the culinary aspects of the local culture.  I was served potatoes cooked in beef broth, sautéed mushrooms, and a soft fresh cheese akin to cottage cheese, but smooth in texture.  It was garnished with freshly chopped onion.  It was outstanding, but the portion size more than I could handle.  Having not eaten everything, I fear that the kitchen staff thought that I did not care for the meal.  

Breakfast the following morning included a semi-hard boiled egg (served under a stocking-cap to keep it warm), a selection of sliced meats and cheeses, fresh juice, fruit selections, old world breads, and strong coffee.  We also failed to consume all that was offered for breakfast.

This was a great hotel stay for an American who speaks no German.  The staff was friendly, patient and very accommodating, despite our difficulty in communication.

Great hotel for the overnight traveler

I've been coming here for 10 years and like this little hotel.
Hotel fronts onto central square where a weekly market occurs
Entrance was however up a ramp around the back, easy to find once you know where!
Rooms were clean, well equipped and well appointed.
Dont expect English TV though!

Plenty to do from here:
10 Pin Bowling in the basement and a good restaurant on the first floor.
The Town is a lovely little town centre with a few bars and restaurants too.
Staff are friendly, and I'm lead to believe there is a fitness room. ( though I've never been!)

Excellent Hotel in Centre of Town

Stayed one night here whilst retracing steps of the 1945 long marrch from stalug luft 3.  This hotel is clean, quiet, warm and comfortable. Had been in Polish hotels previous nights which had been basic and not very warm.  Arriving at this hotel was wonderful, the room was spacious, contemporary amd warm.  The room and bathroom were clean .  The hotel was quiet and had everything  needed.  Breakfast was lovely.  Staff were attentive and friendly.
