Small place close to Freiburg and perfect if you don’t want to spend an eye for hotel in Freiburg city center. Rooms are ok and clean, just a bit cold. There is the possibility to park. Breakfast offer a lot of stuff. 

Good for one night

We booked this hotel based on existing reviews and current cheap offering on booking websites. The hotel has been built some years ago and renovations did not happen recently. Upon arrival we got our keys from the quite unfriendly female owner of the place. Improving her customer service would have improved the experience a lot. We got a standard room, which was ok for one night. Some may have found this room a bit too small. 
The restaurant is hightly overrated. It is delicious but also heavily overpriced. The breakfast is also not as good as other reviews have suggested it.
Wifi is free. 

We would not recommend staying here, if there are alternatives available at same price and same distance to Freiburg downtown.

We got a feeling that the owners of this place took over a standard 90s guesthouse having a high ambition to create something unique, starting with cleaning up the old surfaces. So the furniture is not lovely asian as in the restaurant, but 90ish neutral european hotel style which really doesn't matter since the rooms and other areas are clean with a lot of lucious big plants. We had a three beds room and we all had a good sleep and a nice shower! But the best with hotel Pfauen is the breakfast. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, fresh bred, croissants and chees, ham, salami and more. 

Clean and comfortable and super breakfats

We has to travel to Karlsruhe in Germany to attend a tournament. We randomly stopped for 1 night in Umkirch on the way. We choose the hotel because the Thai restaurant had high ratings. 
Not only the Thai restaurant is awesome but the hotel owners are wonderful. They are from Thailand and have a great sense of hospitality...the famous thailand smile.
Simply a great place to stay and if you get a chance to talk to the owners they are simply nice and welcoming.
It's a 3 star hotel with all amenities. Rooms are very clean and it's a familly own business. In other words they will do anything to please you!

I will come back without any doubts!
