Amazing hotel, great service!

In the middle oft the Mosel River between the well known towns of Traben Trarbach and  Bernkastel Kues you’ll find the “Hotel zur Traube”, in the town of Ürzig. In front of the Mosel River this hotel offers a small quiet place suited for spending several vacation days. The rooms are distributed in two buildings, the main one in front of the river and the second one on a narrow street behind the main one. Either you have a river view or a view of the great vineyards. The rooms are well equipped and have TV, WIFI and a safe. Some of them have a balcony. 
You can enjoy the surroundings by walking or cycling along the river. 
You will also enjoy the local kitchen in the hotel restaurant sitting inside or outside in the nice terrace.  The restaurant serves a good breakfast and the menu offers excellent food for lunch and dinner accompanied with selected Mosel white wines.

Nice hotel in the middle of the Mosel wine region

My wife and I have just spent a lovely week in this great little hotel. It is situated on the river in the little village of Urzig where there is very good wine, a few hotels and restaurants and a boat stop. (Boats go to Bernkastel and Traben-Trarbach.) There is a station 10 minutes away up the hill, from where you can get a train to Trier or Koblenz. Renate and Rudi have created a welcoming and spotlessly clean hotel on the river bank. We had a superior room, really a suite with a separate inside seating area and a balcony  with a nice Mosel blick, where we sipped Renate's strawberry/sekt aperitifs as we watched the barges and boats chug along the river. The room was comfortable and absolutely spotless.  We had great fun every day anticipating the towel art created by the friendly maids. We also liked that smoking is banned everywhere in the hotel incuding on room balconies. Breakfast and dinner were taken nearly every day on the sunny terrace, even sometimes when it wasn't sunny - we had to keep up with our hardy German fellow guests! Rudi's dinners were so tasty and filling; I tried a starter on day one then decided to preserve my waistline thereafter! There is plenty of choice on the menu and Renate made some very good suggestions for wines, so good that we actually visited two of the producers for a tasting and purchase. Despite drinking quite a lot we never once had a hangover - these Mosel whites and reds are very clean and easy to drink. Breakfasts were good and always included boiled eggs which pleased me. Renate speaks good English (not so common in this area) and was so helpful when I needed to see a chiropractor about my back. I really cannot say enough good things about Zur Traube. But if you want a room with river view you will have to book early!! You will not regret it!

Wonderfully friendly hotel on the Mosel!!

We stayed in the annex, which is just behind the hotel itself. We had a large bedroom with a very comfortable bed, a large bathroom with a wonderful shower, a third room for relaxing, and a wonderful little balcony area. The vines come right up to the balcony, so there is a beautiful green view, and it is very quiet. Breakfast is included, and it is excellent. Dinners are also available, and we had delicious dinners there several times during our stay. The dining room has a lovely view of the Mosel, and during nice weather the porch area would be a good place to sit and eat. The owners, Renate and Rudolf, are very friendly and helpful, and Renate speaks excellent english. Ürzig is quiet in October, and made a good non-touristy base from which to explore the Mosel. We had rented a small car in Koblenz for a few days, and parking was right outside the hotel. Make sure to walk around the village, and also cross the river to explore Erden and Lösnich. There are interesting wineries in all three villages. We did not have a chance to bike along the Mosel this time, but we look forward to doing that next time!

Excellent family-run hotel in a village on the middle Mosel

This charming place offers superior hospitality, fine dining, attractive rooms and easy accessibility.
